So, another one bites the dust chasing relatively a smaller target. This time it's the Sunrisers! Who would have predicted this at the end of the powerplay in the second innings!

re: The IPL Thread (Fantasy game league details on pg 238)

This Mumbai team, with bowlers like Bumrah and Boult, seems ahead of rest of the teams in the tournament. They are like that great Australian team in the 2000s who won three consecutive world cups. Indeed, winning is a habit and I wouldn’t be surprised if Mumbai Indians wins the title for the third time in a row.

Not sure why everyone is taking aerial route when all they have to do is take singles and doubles. Bowlers will automatically start erring in line and then hit the loose ball for a 4. Shows teams doesn’t know how to play on slow pitches. Have never seen even one match winning contribution from Vijay Shankar till now.

Looks like the players can’t curtail habits. When common people and commentators can suggest this, i am sure the captain and coach might know this well.

Kedar is well past his prime, hasn't been able to do much at both international level and even for CSK in the last IPL. Surprised that SRH bought him in the auction.

He would be better than having Virat, Abhishek and Samad as the core lower middle order isn't it? No offence to these three young guys, they will learn and become good cricketers later on, however SRH cannot expect Bairstow and Warner to score in all matches. Imagine if they both get out with score under 10/20, SRH could fold up below 100. They are one of the most likeable teams in the tournament with VVS, Tom Moody, Kane, Murali and Bhuvi in the setup. We want them to do well and Warner as a captain has been splendid. His emotions and involvement even from the dug out is inspiring.
It's high time they get Pandey, Jadhav, Shankar, Saha and Samad as the core Indian Batting contingent. They don't have any better than them.

All these guys are definitely not going to find a place in the playing XI at the same time, since they will also consider Samad, Abhishek and Virat Singh. Also, once Kane Williamson is match fit (that's the official reason), they will need to get one of the overseas players to make way for him.

Why won't they make it to the playing XI together? Grooming new talent is good but now they need to start wining orelse they will find themselves in a tricky situation later on.
Look at this combination: Warner, Bairstow, Williamson, Pandey, Jadhav, Shankar, Samad, Khan, Suchith, Kumar & Natrajan.

4 frontline bowlers and 5th bowler to be shared between Shankar, Jadhav and if need be then Williamson and Samad can bowl as well.

Kohli has made one change for today's game against KKR, replacing Dan Christian with Rajat Patidar, hope this works out well.

Will Padikkal & Patidar open today with Kohli at #3 ? Let's see.

That's quite an optimistic lineup, let's see if they actually go with that exact team in the next game.

RCB 11-2 to 204-4, full credit to Maxwell and ABD with Padikkal giving the solidity at the other end and being the glue to hold the innings together at a crucial stage.

RCB needs to keep it simple, stick to the basics and bowl and field decently to win it from here. Unless they bowl and/or field very badly or KKR batting (likes of Morgan and Dre Russ) does something extraordinary, this should be RCB's game.

I hope not Eoin to bring some English T20 flavour to the match. Expecting a special innings from Gill today. A good solid 70+ with some quick fire performances from Eoin, Russel and Kartik. Today no team shall remain unbeaten, hopefully!
Edit After some excitement, Gill perishes to a great catch by Christian. This boy has got a good future ahead.

RCB won again and it's the first time ever they've won the first 3 games in any edition of IPL so far
Hope they sustain the momentum and win a few more games.

re: The IPL Thread (Fantasy game league details on pg 238)

CSK seem stuck with Ruturaj Gaekwad as opener, maybe need to push Rayudu up the order as opener or get Uthappa to play couple games. CSK look set to get ~190 today Vs RR, hope it's enough for a win.

OT: 10 days into this season of IPL, I've found out what can be much more irritating when watching cricket on TV. No, it's not Manjrekar's commentary but watching Ranveer in almost every Ad, he endorses several brands spanning almost every type of product. One gets to see him in almost every Ad!

Even if they win all the games and enter the final, they won't win the Cup!

They are the South Africa of IPL!

re: The IPL Thread (Fantasy game league details on pg 238)

It’s sad to watch Dhoni struggle like this. Clearly, he is past his best. Should have sent Sam Curran before him and they would’ve got to 200+ total, which seemed a good score here. 188 is good too but with dew setting in they could struggle defending it.
Btw, Bravo still got it with his trademark shot over the covers.

I didn't expect CSK to win this big. On a lighter note, turning point of the match should be Buttler's six that prompted a ball change.
