Well tried, BCCI but alas.

Poor Kohli must have had his hopes high this year but.... Even sadder will be if MSD does not get a farewell game.

The most happiest would be the PCB to know that IPL has been affected due to Covid. One they are always jealous of IPL and second their own PSL was affected. Leaving aside the envious group, BCCI will take severe steps to make sure the IPL continues. They may even consider having all matches pertaining to KKR and CSK be scheduled last.

More trouble for IPL:

Wriddhiman Saha, Amit Mishra Test Positive for Covid-19, SRH Players in Isolation. Rumored more players are affected.

That makes a total of 4 players in three different franchises infected. Add Balaji to it and that's 4 camps with active Covid-19 cases currently.

IPL should continue. It keeps some people inside their home for 3-4 hours a day.

Right decision has been made. It's evident bubble has been breached all around. I don't see it reviving now cos there isn't any other window to play it. So, this season is done. Pity, DC and RCB had the best chance to win it this time.

AFAIK, no special provisions for vaccination were made for any IPL player or staff. Only those who qualified on age / comorbidities were vaccinated.

I second your thoughts. Definitely RCB and DC can't be faulted for feeling disappointed. But, no doubt, it's the right decision considering the bigger picture. Honestly, it was just a matter of time.

Ya being a hardcore RCB fan, this season had me excited(like always which fizzles out soon), but this is indeed the right decision. It has definitely spread within teams now, I am sure few more will return positive. The risk is real high.

There are bigger issues to address, then cricket right now, and i hope all players reach back home safely, we will have IPL again next year.

Right decision made by the BCCI. Very slim chance the T20 WC will be played in India later this year. UAE is a much safer bet, especially looking at how smoothly last IPL was conducted there. One city various venues help. You need to cut down the travel as much as possible.
Perhaps in hindsight, this IPL should have been held only in Mumbai/Pune due to various grounds available!

Very disappointing but there is no choice. All the player's talent , commitments and passion makes IPL so extra special.

Hope the BCCI will make sure that all the foreign players and staff reach their home country safely.

No way T20 world cup can happen in India even if cases go drastically down. BCCI has experienced how tough it is in our country to make a safe bubble. If it does happen it will happen in UAE.

Hopefully WTC final and NZ Vs England series go ahead as planned.

It's just a thought.
With BCCI ditching "home and away" format for this edition of IPL for obvious reasons, wouldn't a shortened format helped? I mean, each team could have played the opposition just once and the top 4 could have played the eliminator as usual. We can see that all the teams have clashed atleast once, while DC and PBKS have met twice. So almost 50 percent of the matches have been played/completed. With the shortened format BCCI could have easily got this edition of IPL done and dusted. Also, all the matches could have been held only in Chennai and Mumbai/Ahmedabad. It would have helped logistics immensely. I know, commercial considerations involved are huge, but given the situation it would have probably helped everyone involved.
