Agree, I think he won’t go unsold, but at base price he’s worth the catch. Nothing more considering his shelf life is no more than a year or 2. Plus IPL needs super fit body for fielding, I doubt he has the steam left in. Unless he’s being used as impact player.

But you never know what auction throws when 2 teams will start to fight over a player, completely unpredictable.

No one has seen his swing bowling in Indian conditions in IPL, specially for late evening matches, I guess he will be an asset if ball starts to swing on his terms even for few overs and can trouble all millionaires on his day. Boult was impressive with his swing and snapping batsmen in his first few overs, on the same lines.

Yeah grab him in for a season and see what he brings to the table and then probably use the experience as a mentor.

I feel MI or CSK will grab him at the base price, if no one grabs him, it will be win win for both him and them

MI loves to attract best talent in the business.

CSK (read MSD) is crazy for swing bowling.

Personally I would love him to play anywhere, the guy has got the talent to make the ball talk.

I think he will go unsold because of two reasons. Number one is his base price and number two is that he registered in mega auction. If this was a usual auction like last year or year before then probably he could have found a bidder. Usually in mega auctions when teams are already on a budget due to retentions and rtm there is little money for teams to spend. Also franchises will be building the squad apart from their handful of retentions so budget is spread thin.

I believe SRH never interested in Pant as they already have Cummins as captain and Klassen as keeper, although Pant can play as non-keeper too. They were just trying to deplete others purse. Now Pant will be the new Lucknow captain. As predicted PKBS just throwing away money on Iyer as they definitely need a captain. Now RR, SRH and LSG has proper keepers. GT(Butler, not full time keeper due to injuries) and CSK(MSD not sure he can play 15-16 matches as keeper) have some backup.

Other teams will now try to grab remaining keepers like KL, Salt, Qdk, Ishan etc..

Miller sold for 7.5, thought there would be some demand for finishers. Or that’s what RR thought when they retained Heytmer.

PKBS splurging everything, they bought only 3 players and spent a whopping 62.5 cr

Re: The IPL Thread

Set 2

Shami sold to SRH for 10 Cr.

Miller to LSG for 7.5 Cr.

As RCB supporter, not sure what they are thinking, are they going to splurge on Rahul and weaken the team even more.

Yuzi sold to PBKS for 18 Cr

Siraj sold to Gujrat for 12.25 Cr, RCB did not even use the RTM, interesting.

Livingstone sold to RCB for 8.75 cr

KL Rahul sold to Delhi for 14 cr. Thank god did not come to RCB.

Re: The IPL Thread

27cr for Pant is along expected lines. Its unreal that a franchisee is paying so much to someone who hasn't mastered the T20 format yet, all because they're desperately in need of a Captain!

What is in RCB’s mind? They didn’t go for Siraj, Starc, Butler or Yuzi, but went after Venky Iyer till 23.5 cr.
And now they didn’t execute an RTM option on Maxwell for 4.2cr

Re: The IPL Thread

RCB has literally played with KKR by raising Venky Iyer's bid.

KKR, I am afraid, have massively overspent on one player.

Re: The IPL Thread

Phil Salt is an excellent buy.

RCB has learnt. They are waiting for bowlers to loosen their purse strings.

Re: The IPL Thread

Interesting first 30 mins, T20 specialists Philips, Thakur goes unsold. As usual RCB let go Sundar at a cheaper price and bought Krunal Pandya for 5.75, they might have thought they are bidding for younger Pandya.

Finally they bought Bhuvi

Have no words to explain this! No RTM for Siraj at 12 Cr and go ahead and buy Bhuvi for 10.75. Well, we are taking about a franchise which did not retain Chahal in his prime. Nothing surprises anymore.

Now they don’t want Will Jacks too, I thought they were saving all money to RTM him. Now it’s interesting whom they going to pick from accelerated lots.
