The only good part is they have not used the RTM for Alzarri Joseph, which every RCB fan was afraid may happen.

Other surprising unsold players in no specific order - Smith, Umesh Yadav, Umran Malik, Navdeep Saini, Naveen-ul-haq, Mustafizur and Moeen Ali.

Re: The IPL Thread

RCB should have gone for Sarfaraz Khan and Prithvi Shaw at base price, missing Will jacks is odd, but guess they want Livingstone to play that role. But still looks like one of the weakest team.

Re: The IPL Thread

Just Wow, Vaibhav Suryavanshi, A 13-year old from Bihar. He comes in at a base price of 30 lakh. He goes to RR at 1.1 crore. Woah IPL brings in serious money for the real talent and spotters are everywhere.

No takers for Sarfaraz was surprising.

Re: The IPL Thread

Auctions are over, looks like majority team didn’t get what they really wanted. On paper, both SRH and KKR built a good squad.

Re: The IPL Thread

Any thoughts on why David Warner went unsold? He's performed well in the IPL and now that he's retired from his Australia commitments, he should be available for the whole IPL. Thought teams would be bidding aggressively for him.

I think it is because most of the teams are on tight budget. Also lack of opening slots. Nowadays teams are not looking for specialist openers anymore thinking they can make do by promoting someone to top. Not to mention he was not good in previous IPL. I still think he can be picked incase of injuries or replacement for other reasons.

Could also be because teams spent too much on few players and a lot of money was spent on retainer. Lots of team were running thin and they probably decided to spend 2 cr on 3 to 5 fringe players to fill the slots.

Also except Kohli and MSD case no team is emotionally driven in IPL, so they would rather spend on some one who brings more energy and longer stint to the team then an already spent force.
