There are many Aussies in IPL. But I wonder how come no one thought of Brad Haddin. He is a good wicket keeper and has great ability for sending the white leather over the ropes. Strange.

Warne the genius

Excellent article by Sambit Bal on cricinfo

Cricinfo - A royal fairytale

Warne had always been miffed on not getting the Aussie test captaincy, and now he is showing them, what they missed. The guy is a genius, in whatever he does.

Yeah Shane Warne is really great.

Here is another one by Ian Chappell.
The magic of Shane

Richie Benaud said Keith Miller was the best captain Australia never had. The same can be said about Warne

Have always been a staunch admirer of Warnie. Can never forget the 2005 Ashes series. The guy bowled his heart out when Flintoff was hitting the other Aussies all over the park. And that breathtaking innings in one of the matches, in which he single handedly took Australia to the verge of victory only to lose the game by 2 runs.

I will pay any amount of money to watch him play. He is the best leggie ever and his name will remain etched in the annals of cricket for the foreseeable future. A true living legend. Applause! Applause!

This after their match against Hyderabad.

A very satisfying moment for him.

Note: The joke of the day for me was Afridi having few words with Warne. Because Warne is a master at it. You don't give it back to the master, can you?

Hyderabad vs Chennai - Gilchrist is the captain and no Laxman.

Gilchrist wins the toss and bowls.

Anirudh Srikkanth (son of Kris Srikanth) make his debut !!

Chennai posts a reasonably good score 144/7 and IMO we have every chance of winning if Gilly doesn't fire.

And heads start rolling......

Sharma removed as Bangalore's CEO
Cricinfo staff
May 6, 2008
Bangalore Royal Challengers' poor start to the Indian Premier League has led to Charu Sharma, CEO of the franchise, being removed from his post. Sources within the team-management confirmed to Cricinfo that Sharma has been removed, a day after the team were comprehensively beaten on home ground by Kings XI Punjab, their fifth defeat in the competition.

Brijesh Patel is new CEO of Bangalore franchise
Fate of Charu Sharma was expected . By this move, Mallya really means business.

Anyway Mallya needs to be blamed for picking the wrong men. This move will surely send the chill down the spine of players. Players had seen the glamor, money side of IPL. Take this, this is the other side of the coin.

Venkatesh Prasad also removed as coach

Even Venkatesh Prasad has also been removed as coach according to times now news channel alongwith Charu Sharma. This is the right thing Mallya has done I feel. He is a businessman after all and he has the most profitable private company wherein the mantra is Do or Die (same as in pvt. companies). He should crack his whip on the players he as some people like Kallis/Misbah/Zaheer/Boucher has taken the game on a lighter note. Ask Dravid to sit out and give the captiancy to Virat or somebody younger (if this is possible).

Seriously Dravid should sit out for few matches. I think giving captaincy to someone like Boucher makes more sense. Virat is quite unexperienced. Alright he won the under 19 team leading but still its better to give some one with Experience.

Yes, Dravid should see the writing on the wall & step down from Captaincy & team as well!
That should save him & Mr.Mallya from some embarrassment!

Today, DC performed quite well under Gilly's captaincy.
