Chennai to Mumbai on a TD Car!!!!

Today I read in TOI that a person took a CAMRY from Lanson Toyota in Koyambedu, Chennai for a Test drive. The guy managed to take it all the way to Mumbai along with the sales person

Police is investigating why the sales person did not inform the showroom for last 2 days. He has called after 2 days quoting that he is in Mumbai.

Source: TOI, Bangalore.

We should get him for a review of the camry on Highways

Mods: Not sure if I out in right thread. Please move if needed.

chennai to mumbai !!

i think either sales guy and the other guy had planned this in advance or sales guy was under threat if he informs.

your suggestion for reviewing camry from him is good.

I think the thread ought to be renamed as " TD car stolen and driven to Mumbai "

BTW as per the media ,it looks like the sales chap also was involved. Who knows ?

This happens all the time. ask any dealer/people in the industry. The number of people that are bumped off by TD cars is no less. The cars are left with a silent word to remain quiet else the dealers themselves will face a similar fate.

Similar case in Bangalore, where some kids took a Merc C class to Mumbai, they pushed the sale person out of the car. The garage traced the car via toll booth cameras to mumbai. The cops figured out that the folks wanted to impress a girl in some college so they staked the college out

Had heard some where of a similar incident and that too was a Camry. Some one had taken a car for a wedding out side the city on the pretext of a test drive.
Why Camry is receiving the beating all the time?

Just goes to show it's a good car, but doesn't change the fact that it's stupidly overpriced. Maybe if they reduce the price from 28.xx to 20.xx people will actually bother to buy it rather than flick it "for TD"
