See this video shot by GSFerrari at our last OTR. (http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/4x4-ex...ajmachi-2.html)

Ibrahim is drifting and doing donuts on his safari. (towards the end of the video). He's done it nicely.

Thanks for your kind words. These pictures were taken over a 2 year period. The oldest ones around around Sept/Oct 2008(when the safari was new), to pics taken this june on the ladakh trip.

attaching a pic...i was at 155kmph while clicking this but but the time i could get the pic it came down to some 145 odd....and it was rock solid man....I had to break soon after that as a guy came in front and i felt safe :-) and came home alive :-) and the beast let that guy live as well
Thats not safe for you and others! Please try avoiding such high speeds as safari is quite heavy and the brakes are not that great when it comes to higher speed performance. You will realize that only when you are in such a situation. so please take care.

We call our beast the Tata Safari 2.2 DICOR Lxi (Dec 2009) 'Sunshine'

We have been enjoying it for long drives.

Do share more pics, these 2 seem almost the same.

And since you enjoy long drives, why don't you put up a travelogue?

Re: Our Sunshine

Thanks @Dry ice

Have try to share some more snaps of the vehicle (and me )

I liked the color scheme of GX with color coordinated bumpers and got this done by the dealer before delivery (he did a great job)

Also got the front and back fog lamps in the stock locations and the switch panel on IPS also changed to GX version. Pending - is the remote fuel cap opener. And whenever can manager - a carputer

As a lazy pen it is a development need that I should be writing and sharing travelogues. Will make an attempt once this project is over. Have plans for travel to Corbett in November (if all goes well) - that should give me enough to pen.

From one Reddie to another, congrats!

Guess you are the second Mineral Red Safari guy on the forum!

EDIT: Is that a crash bar at the back? Guess the lack of a reverse sensor does not cause too much of a concern for you due to this.

Tanveer,

Looks like you were a hermit in your previous birth - always on the look out for getting far away from civilization, aren't you!

Looking forward to doing similar trip one day! Fingers crossed!

Hi All,

we always hear about the limited rev to 3K redline on a 3L dicor. Some of us also appreciated my last pic with the beast doing 150kmph at 2600 rpm...

so here are a few more for our pleasure...to see at what rpm..what speed can be achieved....and I am sure few here can do much better then this as well ..

I seriously hope you were not driving at those speeds and clicking those pics as well.

If so, this is dangerous and such pics should not be encouraged and to boast about such things is foolhardy in my opinion.

I see your temperature gauge is at around 135 degrees, is this the norm for the 3L engine? Or is it because you were cruising at constant speed and the engine temperature decreased? Even so, its off by a nice margin from the mid way mark (which is the normal resting place for a 2.2 Dicor)

For 2.2, the 'normal' resting place is the mid way, +/- a notch.

Why the "+/-", well, my 2.2's gauge is always one notch towards the right; has been from day 1. Guess I got a warmer vehicle!
