Awesome beast RAM, impeccably maintained.

What engine does it come with, is it the RENAULT one?

Must be a joy to pilot, without the noise, vibrations and sluggishness of a Diesel engine.

Imagine doing Kashmir at the peak of militancy in 2006.

Please don't answer one question that everyone is going to throw at your now, 'MILEAGE KYA HAI'. I think of it this way, if you are using it sparingly, can afford to spend on fuel, and don't want to sell it at all, then Petrol is good. The problem is since there are not too many around, parts for the engine would mean extended stays at the service station till the parts arrive, but all the Sheikhs in the desert drive Petrol SUVs and SUVs perform their best in Petrol mode.

Its all the skewed policy making of the Government, susbidising Diesel and over taxing Petrol, bringing about a huge price difference.

Good to see you enjoying your ride, and that is a nice fancy number you have, if I spot you in Bangalore, will pull over and say 'Hi'

Agree Arun

Hi,

Very aptly said. This Safari has been tremendously faithful to me and in that I think I have recovered full value. It comes with an inhouse DOHC petrol 2100cc engine - if I recall right the Scorpio Petrol version came with the Renault engine - I think it still does for the xport market.

About fuel consumption, I will always measure it comensurating with the size of the vehicle, engine, and all the muck in the trunk it carries on long journeys. But as you said at the end of the day, its like driving a car, has fantastic acceleration and ride, with quality niggles much less compared to its deisel sibling. As regards the spares, I havent had much problem so far with the dealer, hopefully I will not touch the engine for some more time.

As I said before, I bought the car with more heart than head and perhaps it is about a relationship that one builds with his car that turns into a faithful companion. It reposes confidence every time it comes into the garage after yet another journey that will be remembered for times to come.

Still love the old school style of Safari, twin headlights and the rectangular fogs.

Ram, good to see your vehicle again. And kudos for keeping it in mint condition - the vehicle doesn't look anywhere near four & a half years oldcheers:

Ram : What a well maintained Safari that too in Black color and travelled through out the nation How do you maintain the exteriors ?
This 4X4 with grey interiors and cladding was quite practical and beautiful. The new EX 4x4 and Vx with beige interiors and bumper painted do not gel with image of 4x4 SUV.

Aman : Nice ride , I too saw a similar video on You tube few months back probably the owner is not on T-BHP.

Hi:
Thanks for letting me know it looks good - I always thought I am not giving it the right treatment.

Every year I have given it a coat of wax polish; every other month (especially in the monsoon months) I give it a complete wash unless it is sent for service; and every 3 days in a week just the normal wipe.

Also remember to make your car look good on the snap give it a good wash and take the snap early morning when the sun is at the back of the car!..........cheers.....Ram
