Can some one tell me what is this and how it is supposed to be folded? The uncovered velcro seems to be catching any frills on the cloth especially my 4year old's frock.

BJ that will go below the seat just tuck it in between the seat, it is nothing but the seat cover and they have made it so that while folding the seat the seat cover does not get torn.

Torrential rain due to the effect of cyclonic storm Aila had left the gate entrance at Kuldiha, Orissa, a mud trap for a 2wd. After a lot of sliding, precariously close to the forest iron gate and the trench by the side, Safari VTT somehow was maneuvered to the grassy patch at the other side.

Kuldiha forest road is totally uphill from this gate, and quite a few anxious moments were encountered. One has to stop at the gate to submit papers and then the forest guard opens the gate, and in those 15 minutes the 2wd VTT sank in the soft mud.

All in all, though a very fantastic experience, a forest journey and stay during torrential rain is absolutely different -- normally the forests are closed in the monsoons. All the gutters and overflowing water on the forest track and the sliding and experiencing the wilderness of a drenched forest was an experience by itself.

As for wildlife, fantastic experience as the elephants come to eat the mangoes and jackfruit from the trees - we tracked a lone tusker from the VTT in the night as it moved around the FRH - picking out the mangoes and the jackfruit.

I thought I smelt burning clutch!

Suman da - those Woodland shoes are still bagged in a plastic, mud has dried up and the weight has increased by 2 kg - weekend will try to clean and salvage it.

Will continue the travelogue on this post only - as it is repeat visit after 1.5 years - the weather made all the difference. We experienced what forest turns to during a monsoon. It rained all through for around 26 hours.

The mud easily fills up the whatever grooves are there in a H/T tyre and then its like bald tyre coated with grease like mud.

The mud was slippery like tonnes of grease. Was also worried as the rev was going to towards the red line and expected a engine check light any moment.

Thanks Mr Mathur - the clutch was under stress for little time but did not burn up - it was more freewheeling kind, accelerator pressed and the rear wheel turning freely like as they are on rollers.

Hi Guys... I have been following this thread for quite sometime and the posts and pictures of Safari are awesome. I am an avid fan of Safari and bought one myself 2 months back. Its a 2.2 Dicor Ex 2008 Model, Walnut Gold. I recently went for a long trip to Madikeri and Kerala. I will soon post some pics and specifications of my beast.

In the meantime I need some help. The black colored plastic caps at the end of the side steps have fallen off and I am searching for new caps. I have searched in JC Road, Bangalore but could not get it. Can anyone tell me where can I get these caps?... Thanks

@Anup: Smoke? Frying? And you thought you 'imagined'? Well, then, guess both of us have had the same imagination! There was enough smoke to send signals to the Red Indians!!!
