What makes you think that sir? I'm only worried about body panel damage - all the rest can be managed easily.

Oh yes, please do join.

Guys!

What an amazing thread, must congratulate and thank Pavan Kadam for starting such an amazing thread....inspite of what has been said by people about the Safari and the various issues that the owners of Tata cars have...this thread is just from another world!

It goes on to show how the B5 owners - beast, beauty, bulls, buddy and the bears simply love doing what they do.

Off late a colleague of mine has got hooked on to buying a Mahindra 4x4, and I happen to read almost all of those lovely post (offroading and rebulding of the classic/mahindra/willy's etc) but this post of Safari must say is at par with those offroading classics.

I just cant believe my eyes for the images taken by adc, bglsrini and many more...man how i wish i was there in flesh and blood soaking everything in those amazing locals and landscapes.

I would like to suggest that - the Safari owners should also indicate the various locations or places that the images are from. Its mesmerizing to see how beautiful our country is and how very few people even know about it.

The snaps of adventure and the love for your rides is awe-inspiring and memorable

Great work guys.....trust I would like to own the Safari some day and hope the day is not too far away!

On road pictures of the Safari looking all spic and span are so boring.
Come on guys, get your trucks dirty, break the sidesteps / cladding and lose a hub cap or two
Fantastic but this one, for me, is still on top.

Saildrive, suggest you go through the travelogue sections and the 4X4 sections. You will find separate threads with detailed trip descriptions and photographs put up there in separate threads. Its true, most of the Safari guys are a bunch of happy travellers and have visited some of the most stunning locales and hence have some of the best threads in these sections. Just look out for threads in those sections, started by the members mentioned by you and you'll be good to go .

The older TCIC was the best looking safari, that twin headlight is to die for!

Ravi! Neat! 255's or 235? How much did the alloy cost? And 7J?

Edit:

Twins were stopped coz they couldnt have motors to adjust beam right?
Loved the twin head lamped Lancer too.

Message to all you 4x4 safari owners: You are missing something if you are not taking out your vehicle for off-roading. If possible, join Hrag in his safari on an OTR and see for yourself what it is capable of.
Thanks for that - we really need to get this bunch off the beaten track.

How about an OTR in Kerala - Wyanad, so its close by for you too?

I agree too. I loved the headlamps of the earlier model compared to the newer ones

This is OT but could not resist: I thought the beam is adjusted (vertical adjustment that is) using a solenoid instead of a motor. Or was it a motor doing the rounds in the old Safari? Nevertheless, a twin headlight as opposed to a single reflector (H4 high / low) offers the option to turn both the high and the low on

Done. I am game for an OTR almost all the time. I will be there. As I don't know much about the place, I would suggest that someone take the lead here. I will be more than happy to take part in a recee -- if required.

When the Dicor version of the Safari was released, i thought it looked ugly as compared to the TCIC. A few years later, i now feel i would prefer the looks of the Dicor. With a good bullbar and wide tyres, it really looks menacing.
