Lets see - there was some talk about a meet in Northern Kerala involving Calicut and Wayanad. We'll see if we can arrange a meet which also involves some otr activity.

I think you can still put them back if you make some minor mods to the fenders and/or bumpers - the basic bodywork is still the same. While the earlier headlamps had some clearance with the bumpers (and therefore the bumpers curved upwards) the newer lamps take up the entire space.

I'd love to have twin headlamps - gives you the option of going for HIDs for one or both the beams.

Amazing Thread Guys

This is easily my favorite thread on T-BHP. I just love going through the posts.
Awesum machines/beasts and wonderful masters!!

Safari is a childhood dream of mine. I still remember the first one I saw on road. Spotted it on the EM Bypass(near the stadium, Salt Lake, Kol), it was a wine red sorta color, grey claddings and amongst the yellow cabs of Kol, it sure looked spectacular!!
I was some 7-8 years old at the time when it was launched and some 12-13 years later it still is my dream vehicle. Would love to own one someday!!

By the way, members list says there are 281 Safaris onboard, while we have pictures of just about 60 odd!! Where are others??

Hi
I always wanted to ask this question.
What is the reason of blanking out the number plates. I mean some people do and some simply do not. How does it make a difference?

Its a privacy and security issue... thieves won't know which state/city the car is located in and nor can they copy the plates of one type of vehicle and put them on another same type and colour that they may have stolen.

Its left to the vehicle owner do blank out or not its there decision, there is no such rule that you should blank the plates apart from supercars & imports pics which involves third party cars.

Thanks for the info. Ill remember that.

Also the number in the pics (Red safari) is a temp number. New vehicles in Haryana, unlike in Delhi, are driven on temp numbers for some time. I dont know what the rules are in Mumbai

Harjeev, i think your question is sufficiently well answered. Let's get back to only discussing Safaris again.

EDIT: Normally in bombay, we get the permanent registration before delivery. Only in a very few cases if a special number is asked for and not yet alloted, only then will anyone drive on temp plates. But the cops will harass the life outta them.
