Heated ORVM on EX??

Any Idea about how the heating takes place???

The heated ORVM's on other cars like Skoda have a thin red resistance wire (like the red lines on the rear window) which heats up the window / mirror.

Can I post?

I have just booked a Safari. Have not got it delivered yet.
The thread is here - http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/suvs-m...x4-booked.html

I guess I am not eligible yet to post my car pics in this thrread. Still, could not resist.

This is the thread which has nailed the final nails into the coffins of my family's Honda Civic plans.

Keep it coming dudes!

ADC,

your tour photos are one of the primary drivers for many who dream of buying safari, after looking at your thread it is very very tempting to buy safari without any delay. hats of to you. Tata should award you for indirectly promoting / raising confidence level of Safari VTT

one quick question, do you carry any Safari spares(where failure rate is high) during these trips?
during these trip to remote locations did you noticed any Tata service centers?

Muke the TASS is a call away, i guess you would have read the TSK experience with TASS guy who reached a remote place at 8 in the morning to help TSK.

Muke, no point carrying spares as there is very little on these modern vehicles that can be changed by us as a DIY.

As mentioned by Raghu below, Tata service centers are in every nook & corner including remote corners of the country. And they are very prompt in responding to your call, should the necessity ever arise. Even if you are 150-200 kms away from them.

Its amazing that ADC did all this in 2WD. I need that kind of motivation to take my mHawk to all these places. Did ADC ever feel the need for a 4WD ever in any of these areas?

Id like to answer this for ADC.
ADC has 4wd in his brain.
It does not matter whether his Safari has it or not.
His 4wd=his motivation & courage.
It transforms his Safari into ATV.

What say Dada, am I wrong?

Corrections
1. Tata service stations are not there in nook and corners. They are absent in remote himalayas. On NH22, the last service station is Solan, barely 2 hours from chd. On the Manali highway, last one is at Mandi
2. 150-200kms is local for Tata. They send people 500kms away, Wherever you are Tata is just a phone call away. The guy who came to me spent 14 hours in the bus from Solan to get to me, a good 300+kms away I forgot to mention it then, but he told me that he has come to Reckong Peo before also to service and repair a few Tata cars owned by people of this region(A total of 5 safaris in that region).

ADC. I really like the last pic in which the safari is just like a silhouette!
with a wider lens it would have come out even more spectacular.
I think you should contact TML to get a LSD for your rear diff. If its not a difficult fit, it will be very useful. On a recent trip I decided to get out with just LSD without engaging 4x4(was stuck in a freshly harvested field). With little drama, I could get out.

I also liked the ICEd pics. Hopefully this summer I will also visit such locales, and sometime in the future, I will visit sikkim too!

Tata 4WD safari's come with a Limited Slip differential. It can be fitted to a 2 wheel drive vehicles too because the Xenon 2WD also has LSD.
However no dealership will do such stuff for you. You will definitely need the helping hand of TML. So if you have contacts you can get it for the price.

If you consider the drive train of the Tata Safari only the engine is new and relatively unproven. Every other component has been refined by Tata over 10 years and generally have no major issues or the kind of issues that will leave you stranded.

The issues that have surfaced with the engine are mainly around the common rail system made by Lucas. No roadside mechanic will be able to diagnose/fix that. Besides no one has got stranded because of that.

I don't think anyone outside of tsk has got stranded so I don't think that should be a concern. What concerns me about the service light issue is that Tata has not identified he cause so far and has no fix/retrofit for this. They just start out by changing out ECU/wiring/harnesses/fuel lines/ etc...

Eventually they will sort it out.

ADC da, you have done more to make me hate staying in office at times more than any number of dumb co-workers!!!

Your pics just make one want to pack up and drive to the hills via the Tata showroom.

Hats off to you!
