All Tata Safari Owners - Your SUV Pics here-img_9439.jpg

Returned yesterday late night after one of the best trips ever, a trip that took us to extreme lands, met innumerable friendly people [glad that I did not have a GPS!!] that included treks, places were travellers came by like this for the first time in some 18 years.

Lots to write and review, just one of the pictures that just came first up on opening up the SD cards.

After seeing those two snaps, all I can say is WOW! Brilliant pictures with the nature and the machine perfectly complementing each other.

One thing that I have observed with all the pictures in this thread is that most of the Safari owners are so passionate about their machines and that is what is reflecting in the quality of snaps that we get to see. Way to go pals, looking forward to more such photographs from all of you.

re: All Tata Safari Owners - Your SUV Pics here

Accidentally chanced upon my last Safari -which I sold 3 years back - yesterday. And it looked good. Took a few snaps on the go and will load them up soon.

Now recently, I had begun to harbor negative thoughts about the Safari. Especially, after I was unable to solve a consistent issue with my SUV even after spending some decent amount of time & money trying to rectify it.

But while I parked my current Safari, some distance away from my old Safari, as my family went shopping, I just realized :

1) Me & my family have covered more than 4 lac kms since 2004 on 2 different Safaris. Thats almost 400,000 kms over a period of 6 years, over land, mountains, highways, city roads, no roads etc and we have never been stranded on the road. ( well actually we got stranded just last month. You know why: because the damn KEY broke into two parts...on the highway on route to Delhi, early in the morning at 7 AM )

2) Over all these kms and years, there are just 2 major problems that I have faced collectively with both the vehicles. The first Safari after being parked on a rather sharp incline for sometime (say a day) would not start on cranking. And the current one suffers from an almost unsolvable alignment problem. It ever so slightly drifts to the left when the steering is free and on braking with a jerk

3) I realized, I have never left either Safari at a service station for more than 3 quarters of a day anytime during the last 6 years.

4) Most importantly I remember many journeys taken over the last 6 years, the speedo needle stuck at 90kmph, the air-con blasting away cold-air, the safari drumming down the highway, and me looking at the rear view mirror to find everyone fast asleep and snoring - including the dog!

Ditto. For all of Tata's reliability issues, never been stranded. 130K on a TCIC and going strong.

Very true. Have had the same view many a time

@ADC - Look forward to more pics. Your complimentary 4x4 Safari from TML is long overdue now!

ADC has BF Goodrich Long Trail TA. Great tires for the kind of places he visits.

re: All Tata Safari Owners - Your SUV Pics here

These 2 points sum up the Safari experience aptly. That is some phenomenal mileage there, rrsteer.

It is easy to blame the Safari for some of its problems, but only us owners know how we love her, and how intimately she is serving us. I am only 30K on Odo compared to your 4L, but I know what you're talking about. It is that feeling. Long live the Safari cult.

BF Goodrich - great for rough trails, super tough treads and sidewall but okay on high speed braking - hard rubber being the primary reason.
