Disappointin to see the czechs out so early!! Turkey was a good side but i liked czechs better.
The netherlands vs france match was simply brilliant. Great goals by both henry and robben made the day for me.
Are alll the games from yesterday going to start at 11.30?

11.30 is better than 12.30 but we will have to decide which one to watch and which to miss. So thats pretty sad though.

I dont think the game starts at 11:30, its only from 12:30. And also, do we have a choice which game to choose between? I guess ESPN shows one and the other we need to catch a rerun.

Both the matches are shown simultaneously on ESPN and Star Sports. "Alt-Tab" between channels should work atleast in the group stages

Not sure but my reasoning is that both the matches of the day are played at the same time to avoid any sort of rigging .... matches since yesterday were the 3 games of each group and this way no team can plan a loss - draw etc in order to allow a weaker team to make it through and stuff like that ...

Dont shoot me if Im wrong .. Its just a guess but it does make sense ;-) !!

You are right Khaadu!

But, they could have started the matches bit earlier, as of now it starts at 8.45 PM (12.15 AM IST), IMO they could have commenced the matches at 7 PM (10.30 IST).

UEFA thinks that only Europe watches Euro and Champions League!

Well not exactly khaadu! Actually, the logic is not to give any team(s) an unfair advantage over the others (read - knowing their competitor's result before hand and thus have the knowledge of what exactly needs to be done). For example, it happens so often that a particular team's qualification depends on the result of another game as well. Lets assume their competitors have already played their match and it turns out that this team is already through or will be through if they just play for a draw or whatever. It will basically kill the interest among the fans as well, especially the TV public where the big money comes from.

In other words, lets say two teams which play their match later in the day and both have a chance to go through but circumstances are such that they can't go through if another particular team wins their own fixture. Now if the games happpen simultaneously, everyone will be going hammer and tongs to get a win because they don't know what the result of the other fixture would be. If the games were being played at different times, we could possibly lose interest in atleast one game which could be rendered worthless. No interest from TV public, no advert spend from advertisers. Simple, money talks!

@finneyp: That's prime time in Europe man. Its 20:45 GMT, PRIME TIME!! They don't give two hoots about anyone else, but then why would they?

nkapoor @ Same situation but they more worried about teams playing according to the other teams result from the same group -- though what you say is also there but that comes later . ;-)

I am very happy with the results till now.

Been a big supporter of the Dutch and Germans and of late Croats!

I was hoping the Dutch, Portugese, Croats and Spanish/Germans to be the 4 semifinalists. But that cant happen due to group distributions

Hence i predict

Semi 1 - Croatia vs Portugal / Germany
and
Semi 2 - Netherlands vs Spain / Group C runnerup

Final - Croatia/Portugal vs Netherlands/Spain

Elito

Well well yesterday was seriously too much for me. Deciding which game to watch and which to drop. Today i have this intuition that italy and netherlands will make it but i somehow feel romania deserve a berth more than italy

Y'days derby match btw Italy vs France stood upto its expectations!

Italy dominated most of the time, created lot of chances & won convincingly by 2-0, the margin would have been 4-0 or 5-0, had Luca Toni scored on the umpteen chances he got!

I can't digest the fact that a International striker like Luca Toni can mess-up so many chances, he was quite lethargic in his approach, Del Piero would have been a better choice instead of him.

Italy finally showed some resolve, although it took a penalty and a defelcted free kick to get them across. France looked weak right from the start, and the sending off didnt help them one bit.

Now that Italy are through, i wonder how long they would manage with Toni who hasnt been able to find the net despite being peperred with innumerous chances, and a midfield which is under strain due to yellow cards picked up and not being able to play the quarter final game.

But just goes to show how disastrous a missed penalty can be ... Im sure Mutu will be devastated -- coz if he had scored , then they would have gone through to the quarter finals instead of flying back to Romania !!!

Pathetic match .. France never looked strong enough to give the Azzuris a fight !!
