@Ramky: Your Scorpio is certainly one of the most beautiful and well maintained on T-BHP.

Cheers!!!

@Raj: On straight roads, I find it's OK till 140, after that it it feels that if I'm not in charge anyome, scary !!!!! So I ease off once it nears this mark.

@ Strangerintown: Drive way to the Ramanatha temple, Rameswaram, TN.

@ Get Surya: I need to check this out with my ASC, ASAP. From day one my needle, 5-10 mts after start reaches just below the half way mark and stays there, never crosses it whether its short or long drives, Ive driven non stop for almost 6-7 hours, 400+kms stretches at one go, stilll the needle just stays a tad below half way mark.

Since it's not digitalized and is only a range, can there be individual variations?

@ Deep Gautham: Thank you very much.

Ramkya, I am sure there should be nothing wrong with the car. However, can other CRDE owners on the forum confirm the engine temp needle position? As I stated earlier, my CRDE engine never crossed 30% or 35% mark on the scale in the Dash!!

Based on this info, you can take it up with the workshop guys.

also there is something about the white which looks amazing, its funny how not too long back a white car would immediatly be categorized as a taxi but now its just class..
it was dificult to handle at tht speed..but wanted to try out how much it can go.

if at all you plan to go ahead with it, go for the red and white one which comes in the java brown/black colour mHAWKs, it looks damn good. others have the normal green ones which you see in the above pic.
Any pics of this type?

Yup the temperature gauge needle normally settles at just below the half way mark. I don't think there is any cause for concern.

@ Razor - Retrofitting the new cluster should not be a problem. However I am not sure if the speedometer in the new cluster is cable driven. I think there is a speed sensor due to the fact that the odo is digitised. I am sure Dhabar Behram will be able to clear up this issue.

this is the link of the e-brochure of the scorpio. on the 4th page, you will find the red instument cluster i mentioned. please give the page 2 minutes to load completely.
http://www.ifctest.com/scorpio/html/E-Brochure.pdf
these red clusters are available in black, green and java brown mHAWKs, the others getting the normal green ones found on the CRDe.

Ditto for my non-CRDe GLx 2004.. Never ever exceeded that marking, even in Jodhpur in June 2008 with the AC on full blast and the outside temp hovering around 53 C (according to the Min/max thermo that I was carrying) at 2 pm.

+1 for my pre-CRDe 4WD. Hovers just below the half-way point.

@raj: Thanks. I am taking the car for a servicing soon. Will ask them about the cluster. But it does seem that the red cluster has all the fancy gizmo readings, like tyretronics and so on. Will have to account for that.
I also need to find out if these clusters have indicators for the two 4wd modes (4L & 4H). Maybe Mathur saab or roshun can throw some light on that.

In all likelihood they do have the indicators. Most makers use a standardized item across all variants of a car.
This is just a guess. I do not know for certain.

yes, the 4L and 4H lights are there even in my 2WD scorpio as anup sir mentioned.
sorry, i forgot about the TPMS, if you get the red cluster fitted, i guess the TPMS indicator will serve as a dummy...
