thanks to our member shatrughna, we got a great scoop about mahindra which i will quote here-

Quote:
* Mahindra is becoming safety conscious atleast now. The scorpio which is available with ABS will now get Airbags. Mahindra would equip the top end variants (VLX) with twin airbags. The launch will happen in December or at auto expo
* Following the Scorpio, Mahindra hot selling product Xylo would also get airbags
* The new world class monocoque SUV which Mahindra is developing under the codename W201 is destined to launch in October 2010

Finally, M&M thinks about putting air bags in the scorpio. This was one of the reasons why I didn't buy a scorpio. I guess better late than never.

my mHawk at 160+ kmph!!

Hi Guys,

I drove down to Bangalore from Hyderabad yesterday for a weeks holiday and I touched 160+ kmph speeds on the highway which is superb till Kurnool.

The BOSS(my Scorpio) effortlessly zoomed between 120-140 kmph and for a 20km odd straight stretch I hovered above 160+ kmph. The car had more juice left even above 160 speeds. Kudos to M&M for a good engine and hope in the next year version/s they would mate a tuned gear box to optimize the engine power!!
Enjoy the picture attached.

I had my wife to click this picture from behind me so that I did not get distracted from driving!!

Surya, why is the pic so blurred?
Hope it's not due to intense vibrations!
I've taken my Scorpio to 155 speedo and there was no vibration. Had I had a pic taken, it would've come out steady.

@ surya: great! the mHawk is capable of 160 kmph but whats more important is how was the feel of the car at that speed?!!!

this must be on account of "hand-shake" while taking the photo.
Ive hit 150 (MAX MAX) last weekend coming from Madras but frankly I am not dying to try it again in the Scorp without either ABS or Airbags - not worth it.

Ah so! As in hands trembling with fright?
I can understand; at that speed in a Scorpio!

quite possible. it is certainly not worth hitting such speeds - the vehicle is a good highway cruiser and certainly not a cruise missile...

Hey Guys,

My wife was leaning over from back to take a pic on the iphone camera, so I guess that was the reason for the blurr.

The car is pretty planted at 150+kmph, however without airbags with ABS I still was not very comfortable. Even with them I would not want to risk my life or my dear ones except to push the mean machine to check its mettle.

Happy & Safe motoring

Dear Friends, Now Scorpio with Airbags.

Also posted on this thread with Pics (http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/suvs-m...ml#post1568307)

Scorpio with Airbags, Tweeters launched. News from Vicky.in

Not surprising the official site is not yet updated.

Mahindra Facelifts Scorpio | Vicky.in | Indian Automobile Blog | Car Reviews | Bike Reviews | Test Drive Reports | Pictures | Videos

Don’t be serious! its not a serious facelift. Mahindra has again added new features to its flagship product – scorpio. Scorpio VLX – top end variant of scorpio gets the following features

* Twin front airbags – passenger and driver

* twin dial instrument panel

* front speakers with built-in tweeters

* speed warning alert

The facelifted scorpio will see a marginal hike in price.

Hey guys,

This is my first thread in the forum (I'm a new member). Just to update all that I bought a rocky beige Scorpio VLX (MT - Captain Seats) 2 weeks back. I'll post the pics soon.

I need your suggestions finding a bull guard. I like Carry boy's design but then I dont know if the black color of bar will match with the SUV (rocky Beige).

Your suggestions/inputs would be more than welcomed.

Cheers, Varun
