again! my old scorp went through quite an abuse. one such incident was in kerela, there was this particular area called "champakulam" (!!!). it has absolutely no roads and we went there in my scorpio, a sumo victa and a qualis. we stopped the qualis before entering the slush as the owner dint want to "dirty" his vehicle. the sumo got stuck halfway! then all the passengers of the sumo were dumped in my scorp and it was so comfortable as if its an expressway!
then i returned back in my empty scorp and also towed the sumo out of the slush!!!

Sorry raj

I thought I had already spoken about all the likes dislikes on my earlier posts in the section on Test Drives and Initial Ownership reports
1. Scorpio Lx Crde Turbo - My Impressions
2. 1200 km review
3. 2000 km review

Thought I would save myself re-typing all those posts again here.

cheers

O.K. here we go then:

Likes: The engine is a gem. The gear ratios are well chosen.
The roughest terrian does not result in jarring bumps or thuds.
The compact overall length and the good turning circle (5.6 mtrs radius).
Negligible front or back overhangs, allowing for successful navigation on bad terrain.
Very good NVH supression.

Dislikes: Too heavy a vehicle! Ought to have been 500 kgs less in weight. Winds up sinking itself in, in certain conditions of terrain, thereby necessating use of 4WD! (I'm comparing to the Gypsy!! Not fair!)
Absence of auto-disengage of front hubs when reverting from 4WD to 2WD. Needs reversing for a few metres.
Absence of rear screen de-fogger on 4WD variant.
Flimsy plastic 'protection' plate on the front 'leading' end.
Ground clearance compromised by the side steps and the low front bumper skirts!

Mods: NONE.

Accessories: NONE.

Oh, and I do have my tyres 'SLIMED'. It has been a year now, since 'installing' Slime Puncture Preventative. No punctures yet, though that is no big deal. What IS a big deal is that I have only had to fill in air to the extent of 2 psi at the onset of winter in Delhi (Nov). No pressure loss at all in the normal course, since June last year!!

thanks a lot, but dint get that paint thing which you mentioned.
I was joking anyway about the beer cooler.
I was referring to your choice of colour. I feel SUVs look great in white and shades of white.

This sounds very interesting! If not a problem, please do PM more details of where it was done, what the process is & the cost. Thanks

2003 Scorpio 2.6 dx (non-crde).
bridgestone dueler h/t 235/75 shod on 15" alloys.
blaupunkt bahamas mp34 HU,front- blaupunkt ovals, rear- pioneer TSA6980 6x9s, sony xplod 1300w 12" sub powered by sony xplod amp (lil crappy).
underbody neons (blue).
1 set of ROOTS megasonic horns and 1 set of ROOTS vibrasonic horns.

Carputer and slight ice upgrade coming up real soon.

likes: (1st of all, it never lets me down)
Immense torque (still pulls like mad).
Somehow i like the tight interiors because i feel like im wrapped around by the ride and so i get the complete feel of the vehicle.
Low maintenance cost.
Can take a lot of abuse (and load too) and still perform well.(my ride was last given for a FULL service about 7 months ago).
Still makes me enjoy every single drive as i did when it was new.
Still gives me an avg of 10 to 11.5 Kmpl.

dislikes:
Hard suspension.
Braking & Engine sound (since mine is the oldest version [you can hear a real truck engine sound "trrrrr" ]).
Claddings tend to fade over time.

Good one Raj!
This is a very nice thread for scorpios. More details on likes/dislikes will be interesting to read for people like me who dont own scorpio. And ofcourse the Pics !!

I used to own MM Bolero till recently and changed to Safari. In fact i like Scorpio so much. Because i already used a MM vehicle for 6 yrs i didnt go for Scorpio. My Bro in Law in planning to buy a SUV and i am pushing him to go for Scorpio so that we have 2 good indian SUVs in the family.

Likes - Macho Looks - Almost like a battle tank.
Performance - Amazing pickup and zippy
Drive - Easy to drive in traffic and parking is not very difficult.
maintenance - based on my exp with bolero, i am sure Scorpio should have less m Costs.

Dislikes - Ride - bumpy on uneven roads and back seat comfort is compromised
Looks - Rear of the scorp can be improved. Looks slightly bland.
Interior - Space is a premium. can be a uncomfortable on long trips.
