Best time to see the distant snow peaks in the himalayas.
Who wants a tiger when one already is one!

Ah! How definitions vary!
I assumed 'shortly' to be a matter of hours!

Well I am really late,
but better late than never.
Heres pictures of my Scorpio at various locations
it is a June 2005 CRDe.
Has crossed the 50,000 mark.
has been to Kargil and Kanyakumari.
I just love it and now wish i had gone in for a 4wd, but if things go well i might probably buy a 4WD sometime in late 2009 / early 2010.

@ off roadie: Amazing pictures. The first one with its immense expanse of green highlights your truck to the fullest. The second one in grey tones enhances the ruggedness of the vehicle while highlighting the tough terrain.

thanks all for the warm welcome.
to mathur sir well i am the scorpion king from bcm and the off roading bug has hit me this year and i am a novice compared to a lot of pros here but i hope to learn a lot from them and grow in time.
the scorpio was originally bought for munching miles on the highway and so the 4wd was not on my mind back then.
however after rajasthan, ladakh, a great escape and some small escapades here and there i am a convert and hope to do some serious off roading in the future.

thanks all of u
i am just a newbie in the offroad world hope i can live up to my userame in the near future.
to balan well i am in a big fix as to which 4wd to go in for in 2010
would love a fast comfy cruiser that can hold its ground off the road but options are limited to safari, scorpio, bolero.
i am awaiting a bolero crde model as it should be easier on the wallet in case it gets hit while getting adventurous. also the lighter body compared to the scorpio does have its advantages in situations where power induces nothing but wheel spin
plus i will have more money for accessories, primarily a winch which will give me some piece of mind if i go out solo. although it would add a lot of weight because it will need some metalwork to hold it in place
i am not to sure if i will venture into the unknown with an expensive hybrid so thats a no no.
to mathur sir i hope u realize that i am the same scorpion king from bcm touring

It would be good to see how technology pans out in the next 3 or 4 years, prices of hybrids should stablize then. This looks to be last decade of the pure diesel SUVs with oil prices to stay like this.

Definitely me too looking forward to go for a 4wd that can do long distance cruising as well as decent off roading somewhere in another 4 years or so, of course if everything goes okay.

Till then, I think we do/have to manage somewhat at 1st/2nd gear and judiciously controlling the gas, but definitely a 4wd is a 4wd - no questions about that.

Bolero may not ever graduate out of leaf springs and that being lighter will be uncomfortable for long distance cruising but it would be good for off roading. And then they will price it like a big premium vehicle because of the 4wd option.

Anyway, thanks again for sharing those wonderfull snaps.
