My guess is that the Sensex will stabilse around the 12,500mark in the next two weeks, which means that we are still looking at a drop of around 1500 points.

Any thoughts on where the markets headed in the next couple of months?? I am very surprised at the way NIFTY has reached around 4500. Does anyone have a clue whats driving the markets?

Cheers

Nothing but sentiments. Hence very difficult to find the trend. It takes very little time for sentiments to change. Global cues, monsoon... anything can change it. With the earning season almost over, this factor plays an even more predominant role.

Just my thoughts.

The same things which have always driven it - either irrational optimism or irrational pessimism.

After losing money in the stock market, Sir Issac Newton was quoted as
saying "I can calculate the movement of the stars, but not the madness of men".

[quote=sabret00the;1316600]Same here. It's been like after a year I'm seeing overall portfolio at xx% gain. The stocks which mainly pulled my portfolio up were:

1) Aban Offshore bought @ 233.900 and 229.000
2) Axis Bank bought @ 284.500
3) Everonn Systems bought @ 85.000
4) Jyoti Structure bought @ 76.500
5) Siemens bought @ 214.000
6) Punj Lloyd bought @ 109.650
7) Suzlon bought @ 33.700 , 33.800 and 52.100

I'd suggest you not sell aban offshore shares. Can't give you reasons on a forum, if you can, keep it for another year.
P.s - it's only a suggestion, I'm not asking you to act based on what I said, if you need more details, pm me.

Regards
R.G

Can't you invest in any other exchange, for example NSE, since you are working with BSE?

I have been checking on Q1FY10 results. Seems like we are coming out of recession very well. Most of the companies have posted excellent numbers both in sales and profit.

Hats off to you India Inc.

I wouldn't say that, one can't decide if India's out of recession based on just one quarter's profits.Plus your looking only at the profit making co's, there are a lot of companies still making huge losses, whereas most of your business papers only highlight the profit making companies.

"Interviewed" a final semester engg. student other day. We were on the the train. ;-)

Was saying that only branch getting a job is Civil - and for those who have been placed (campus recruitment), none are called to join.

Is that "coming out of recession"?
