Woke up in a cold sweat

I woke up in a cold sweat with a vision of hundreds of BHP stickered cars meandering around the countrys highways, asking for directions at the local dhaba/panwalla...

The cause of the nightmare? The fear that hv kumar will soon go incommunicado for an extended period during his long sojourn to the north east and bhutan!

But seriously, wanted to thank hvk for the amazing response times and accuracy of his directions. Reading a travelogue where he was sms-ing directions to a first time cross country driver (not me!) at midnight speaks volumes for his heart!

Thanks hvk!

I was the passenger on HVK's NE tour !

Hi, HVK fans:

I travelled with HVK (as a passenger .... Not driving ... thank God!) from Thane-Mumbai to Sikkim, Bhutan and Arunchal, incl Khibutu!

I am back in Guwahati ... safe and without any mishaps(!)... after a great road tour of Sikkim, Bhutan and Arunachal. It was an awesome trip! Saw some amazing places and parts of the Himalayas, I have never seen before.

The drive thru most of Bhutan (from Paro, Thimpu to Trashigang and Sandrup Jhonkar) was really awesome! Arunchal was good too, esp the long drive to Khibutu, on China border labelled "East of North East"!

I am now in Guwahati, flying back to Mumbai tomorrow.

HVKumar dropped me at Guwahati at 11:30am today (sunday 26th) and already left for Koteshwar past Bhuj ... across all of India!

For more details on this tour, from my perspective, see the IndiaMike Thread (GHiRT ) after 5-6 days .... i.e. after I recover from the 7000+ KM drive over 15 days

- KS

HVK is a Stalwart. Please share some experiences of his driving style. I have not been fortunate enough to travel with him. So asking.

Hello Sir,

I have read your blogs, & threads here on travelogue section, & was amazed by all your stories, & I always admired this, however just wanted to ask you one thing, How do you find yourself the time to travel such trips?

Cheers,

LOL, crn12, we've all often wondered! That's the enigma here!

And it's not just the time, it's also the resources, and the whatchamacallits, if you know what I mean, LOL!

Is it any wonder that he is a D?

Hi Kesri,

I am sure it would have been one heck of an experience. However, as a person who has traveled 6000+ kms with HVK I don't buy into the mishaps part 100%. .

I am sure there would have been some 'anxious' moments -- to put it mildly

You should see HVK's book collection. He is not only well versed with routes but also the history of the places that passes them.

Thats why here is a fan page as a tribute to him HV Kumar - Fan Page
