Tremor in Chennai

Did anyone of you chennai-ites feel the tremor this evening ? I didnt :( until I was told about it .

man that's scary, being involved in an earth quake and not even knowing about it. sorry, trying to be funny.

hope everything is safe in chennai, i didn't think it's is seismically active.

Same thing here too. I never felt anything and didnt know about it until I saw the flash news on TV !

I didn't feel it either. TV channels claimed that there was a mild tremor in Koyambedu and Nungambakkam.

tremors!!

I did not feel anything.. What time was this ? I was at our office at gemini, and hit the road around 17:20...

What time was this supposed to be ?

Stay on the 8 th Floor. had my Cds fall off the Tv. WAs cursing my neighbour cause they are putting a pile foundation till I heard the news. Sorry dear Neighbour

It was basically Andaman-Nicobar.
Ritcher scale says 6.7.
Thats all I know.

wow, that could mean a tsunami 2-3 hrs later.

HA! No Tsunami! but damn, tremors in Chennai are rare, I missed it :-(

I think I was driving at that time; didn't notice anything. Glad there was no serious damage.

WEird, Chennai is supposed to be in the "safe zone" with very minimal chance for tremors.

Wow..we did not get a tsunami..btw, only a few areas had the effect of an earthquake.. There was a earthquake reported at Indonesia around the same time.

The rains were worth enjoying though!
