Padmini Issac at St. Martha's is a well known Gyneac.

She is also attached to Cradel.

Just to clarify, Cradle is now called Cloud9. We also have good feedback for Dr. Padmini.

Dr. Padmini Issac is the person my wife has been consulting for almost a year now

She visits 3 hospitals / clinics / whatever they call it

A. St Martha's
B. Cloud Nine
C. Richmond's Clinic

But she herself says that Cloud Nine is the best place for somebody to come down and meet her, since she is more than busy all the while at the other 2 places

She is available in Cloud Nine on Tuesdays and Fridays for consultations

It is an expensive proposition though! My bank balance is coming down at alarming rates due to Cloud Nine and It is always swarmed with people

Just my 2 cents!

Re: Parenthood: Sharing the joy, precious moments, learnings and experiences

Need some expert opinion on one of the issues I am facing these days related to my son.

He is not at all able to concentrate on any subject for long enough. He gets restless too easily and goes on doing one thing after the other. In school too we are receiving complaints that he does not stay put in one place and keeps going from one schoolmate to another. Its not that he is not learning and answers every question his teacher throws at him and for that matter even we at home do find him answering a lot of quetions. Its just that he does not want to sit quite at one place and gets finickly after some time. Anyone experienced this or experiencing this, any suggestions.
My son is 4.5 ys old and is in Jr KG.

What do I do to make him concentrate on the activity he is doing?

Same behavior, same gender, same age, same class - I do not worry.

We the parents just accept that he is hyperactive. When the teacher complains we tell him he should not disturb his classmates. On our part we feel she complains too much. After all these are very young kids, each different in behavior, temperament, etc. Let them enjoy school, give them freedom, don't tie them down in a straitjacket. I believe that's what kindergarten is all about.

he he...
My son is 2 years and 10 months.
His school teachers say the same thing - he does not sit at one place in the class.

He is also very active at home (typically at 10 PM, his energy levels are just opposite to his parents' energy levels).

I don't have a solution but hope with age things fall into place.

The way our kids worship us is superlative. Living up to their expectations might be possible but is a moving target.

To put in a bit poetically, for them we seem cabale of fetching the moon and blowing out the sun.

Here is the link to a study I came across sometime back about the effect of TV shows on kids' attention span
What 'SpongeBob' does to kids' attention spans | PRI.ORG

I don't even know if this applies here or not, but just thought of sharing this for info purposes. I probably need to worry about this in about an year's time

My son is born hyperactive. He stays in one place for five minutes only when he sleeps. Even in sleep he moves a lot. In public places its a big hassle running after him. Anyway thats the way he is.

By the way he does not watch Spongebob or the usual TV cartoons. He has picked up his own favorite from Youtube like Caillou and Noddy, which has very good storylines. It is also worth noting that the study article quoted above has words of caution in the last two paragraphs, warning about the risk of believing every study.

Re: Parenthood: Sharing the joy, precious moments, learnings and experiences

I was reading through the book some Medina fellow has written.
He was saying that till they are 2 yrs of age there should be no TV for kids. He says better give them crayons and let them go wild on walls.

Now that I look back I did have a TV-less childhood.

BTW both me and my wife are down with fever and though baby is not showing any temperature she is sleeping on and on.
Even forgoing the feed. Otherwise she guzzles feed at a rate higher than a Hummer.
Worried that we might have passed on some infection to her.

did you find out the underlying cause behind your fever?

don't let her forgo food. And get yourself and her diagnosed.
