My (younger) brother is pursuing his first year in (MS Mechanical Engineering) Michigan Technological University, Houghton, MI.
GPA: - 4.0 (on a 4 point scale)

He is specializing in Automobile & his areas of interest being powertrain testing & calibration, Hybrid Electric Vehicles.

He is looking out for internships/Co-op positions with Automobile manufacturers and/or Technology players in the field.

In Poona itself specific to Automotive R&D as well as manufacturing you have Cosworth India Pvt Ltd. They are located(offices) in the business park attached to the Marriott Hotel in Hinjewadi. Their MD Kayzad Gustaad is very active on linkedln, your brother could connect with him there and then follow up. If interested in engine and transmission development you have Cummins engines and Eaton (Ranjangaon). Then there is AVL India located in Malcha Marg market in New Delhi (opposite the American club) they have a full fledged engine test bed facility in Gurgaon and do a lot of work for their Austrian parent company. In Madras there is the Ford Development cell.
