I think you need to evolve rather than switch. Cloud computing needs mainframes as part of the equation. Do not get jittery with 6 years work ex. Cheers!

Thanks for the reply. From what I understood, it seems like Mainframe will be a part of Cloud technology rather than Cloud becoming a part of Mainframes.Hence the dilemma.It will be very helpful if there is a draft level road map available for evolving in Cloud technologies. Surely, my mainframe experience will be an added advantage.But, it will <U>only be an added advantage</U> I believe. I don't think I can't show mainframes as my core skill set in future.

I'm in a confused state. Any kind of inputs will be really of great help in this regard.

Do not be confused. Mainframes will serve the core once again. Its like a pendulum. More Cloud (term used loosely) usage intern makes mainframes more important. Kindly do not confuse cloud with apps and gadgets but majorly think it as underlying core. I will try and get more on this field but as of now, do not panic.

Rest with time technology within the sphere changes and so evolution on daily basis for an IT guys is like O2 so no denying that fact. I am sure your mentors and project managers will give a better understanding. I also would like you to search critical information and future projects at www.gartner.com and www.cio.com your own research and understanding will be x1000 more than what I or anyone else can suggest. I am giving you a whole picture and not short term direction. All the best!
