Team-BHP - Whats happening to our TV channels?

Yess right "whats happening to our TV Channels".is our country going illiterate?? any channel you surf all the firangi/english movies/soaps/drams/movies/documentary shows are translated in hindi and telecasted.

The other day i was just flicking channel and saw some action movie going on i started watching and the dialogue came in where the fellow is translating the abuse in hindi without any beep..beep..beep.. and all sorts of double meaning happening full-on..absolutely disgusting.

Our news channel dont have anything to show so they just take up stuff from youtube/metacafe and demand comments on the video via SMS and phone calls from all over the county,and some freaks even call and argue.

Another news channel dont have anything to show so the news channel have turned up being a comedy channel where they are making up stories,punch-lines,episodes and showing laughter challenge stars.

Adding up Iceing to the cake we have advertisments running for nearly 10-12minutes,half of them are being repeated about 5times in 1hour.

Where is our television media taking us ???:Frustrati

I stopped watching telly (apart from the occasional sporting event/really important news coverage) a few years ago & have never regretted that decision.

The hindi news channels are a pathetic lot and they telecast all ridiculous and gutter journalism details. For some murder cases still being resolved, they investigate and conclude using their own imagination putting the police and also CBI to shame. I aint sure when will this end ? am i nuts? these guys are forever here to telecast such ridiculous things.
As Iraghava mentioned they are taking down the drain to the other side of the gutter.

Last couple of weeks, some random headlines from Headlines today

Teen pregancy on the rise.

Well, if I had a teen aged daughter, I would be worried abt the last headline. accepted. But the first two ? How does it matter to me !!!

Media seems to take every guy who is watching TV to be a bollywood fanatic.

My two bits:
1. News channels are mostly Delhi/Mumbai centric with some villages shown intermittently. What happens in Delhi is generalised for India.
2. Witness the recent teenage murder in NOIDA. There was blanket coverage and with all due respects to the victim, there are other murders of humans happening right now across the country.
3. News channels and all TV channels suffer from `feeding the beast'.
4. With no exception, all are sensational, prejudiced, filled with stars and prima donnas.
4. I surf across channels on weekdays with a lot of Sanskar viewing. Even that has become commercialised with all `gurus' advertising in the garb of preaching. Best is devotional audio music from CD.
5. On weekends, I use TV for watching movies.
6. You have an option: you should be intelligent enough to separate garbage (nearly all) from the real news. Newspapers still remain better sources, but even that is also becoming debatable.

That is the reason why I stopped watching Aaj Tak, Star News etc etc and moved to NDTV Profit and CNBC TV 18 or CNN Ibn. They still show news. India TV is the crappiest news channel on the idiot box. I have never seen any news on that channel since its launch! All news are breaking news and blah blah blah.

I still remember when Amitabh B had visited siddivinayak temple post Abhi Ash wedding. There's this mouse in the temple, which believers say that fulfills the wishes if you ask for something some wish. The breaking news on India TV "Amitabh ne ki choohe se baat" Ek pote/poti ki maang?:Frustrati

Off course, that is 100% true. Any news channel not showing that will run out of business pretty soon. Alternate is a public broadcasting channel (oh, Doordarshan) or a channel financed by Bill Gates/Buffett. Many people want quality, not loads of garbage. But more than that want titillation, and stuff that increases their adrenalin and testesterone levels.

Compared to other channels(paper, radio, talk, etc) TV is certainly a very Rich channel of information sharing. The impact is better using TV and so are the expectations. Should you have been a newspaper or magazine reader, then your comments on how much its a waste to read/subscribe will be as much.

Channels often have limitations from Regulatory bodies, including govt and private. There is a lot of stuff that can be shown, which will make people think and feel good about watching a TV. Since the media houses need funding and controlled by business tycoons, more money is payed to shut up.

In our country, all news in all channels looks like its been sourced from a single place, and only presenting that happens.

Mostly news content is heavily seasonal and catalyst to spending.

I dont want to explain seasonal aspect because most of you know about it. But definitely a catalyst for spending as TV bigwigs expect you to not be glued to tv so you dont do any shopping outside and happy you spent time in house.
