I have noticed an inordinate number of cracks in the buildings at my place of work. I am certain this kind of damage can only be caused by earthquakes. Need to call in a structural engineer to have this assessed and verified.

Strangely the papers only carried rumours but no confirmation.

Earthquake in Bengaluru!

There was some mild tremors in some parts of Bengaluru today morning around 7:35 AM. The tremors were very mild according to the Karnataka State Natural disaster monitoring Centre and it was around 1 on Richter scale. Affected areas were parts of Rajarajehswari Nagar, Kengeri.

Quote:
"I suddenly noticed the rattling of windows, railings," said Joseph Hover, resident of Rajarajehswari Nagar.
On April 2, mild tremors of around 2 on richter scale were felt in Hosadurga, Hiriyur in Chitradurga district.

Re: Earthquake in Bengaluru!

1 on Richter scale is too mild even to be detected by humans. It can only be detected by seismograph. A passing truck creates a vibration of around 4 on the Richter scale. each one point on richter scale is a magnitude equal to 10 times. So you can imagine how feeble is the Earthquake of RS 1 magnitude. There are 1000s of small earthquakes which are less than 2 on RS happening everyday in the world. So No worries. Enjoy the day.

Re: Earthquake in Bengaluru!

Some news channels have reported tremors were felt only in parts of Ramnagara, Kollegala and surrounding areas. It seems the richter scale did not record it and can be ignored safely. No need to panic

Re: Earthquake in Bengaluru!

I did feel it around that time.

I was in office and felt the desk vibrate for a couple of seconds. I did think it was a tremor , but then since only the table vibrated, I thought otherwise.

Area is Bagmane Tech park , Suranjan Das road.

Re: Was that an earthquake?

Yes. its true as even i felt the tremor at around 7.30AM today while I just woke up. It was very mild. Area - BSK 5th/6th Stage. Not sure due to some construction or was it a real tremor.
