Sounds like a script of a Bollywood movie. I read in rediff that the Indian officials accompanying Bindra were not aware of any such thing having taken place.

Yes I did. I was wondering how he scored 4.x on his trial shot before final round. Any good shooter would do 8+. now it makes sense.

My point was, if anyone fiddled with his gun, that has to be an Indian. Anyone else coming to his range would get immediate attention.

Another (better) version I read in Manorama says Bindra used his sighting session to adjust his gun back and went on to win Gold. Hats off

One more medal hope gone into the doldrums. Lee/Hesh loose to Fedex&Partner.

But some hope in boxing is still alive. Still a long way to go. He has just entered into Q/F.

I have seen Akhil Kumar box a few times and the guy oozes class. I watched his first fight of the olympics and he boxed very well.

People like this should be well rewarded. I remember Muhammed Ali Qaymar who was also a very high quality Indian boxer who never got the recognition he deserved.

Too many poor athletes are at the games, look at some of the womens athletics team from India, they are hopeless and should not even be there. They are not exactly going to gain anything from the experience as they will never get to the standards required to finish in the top 10 of an event let alone win a medal. Its not just India the same applies for the GB mens sprint squad, what a waste of money taking them over.

Cost of Bindra's gold: Rs 10 crore spent on training

"Usually, children who get everything on a silver platter cannot sustain their motivation. But Abhinav's father played a key role in ensuring Abhinav's efforts remain consistent. I do not think any Indian family would invest Rs 10 crore (Rs 100 million) on training their child in a sport," - Colonel J S Dhillon, Abhinav's coach in Chandigarh

apparently many are complaining about the scoring system in boxing. Vodopyanov did not even shake hands after losing to Akhil Kumar. and now we hear Akhil's early punches were not awarded any points in QF.

The scoring in the amateur boxing has been very poor and a major embarrasment to the Olympic games.

Nothing will change though, remember when Roy Jones Junior was robbed i Seoul, nothing really changed after that to stop the biased scoring.

Not sure what Akhil will do, but he was the most entertaining boxer out the indian contingent to watch. Hope he turns pro and makes a bit of money as India first real pro belt holder.

One of the pugilists lost today. The other one's bout starts in a short time. Keeping fingers crossed !! A win in the quarters atleast guarantees a bronze medal.
