Strange rule at ABN AMRO

My brother has home loan with ABN AMRO.

we want to change the address to property which was mortgaged with Bank. The bank is refusing to do it since last year.

Last year they said we have given the request in a format other than their format so they can not accept. so we submitted it again in their format. even then they did not change the address.

Today I went again to their home loan branch at UB City to make part payment and also to change the address.

Now to change address the bank wants ID proof not address proof.

I did not find any logic in that. when queried they said it is as per RBI rules.

Then i have confronted them why other banks are not asking for it if it is a RBI rule.

Reply -- we are doing it as per guide lines issued by RBI.

Did RBI has any such rule?

I can understand if they ask for address proof( New one)

Will the ID of customer change every year and they have to prove ID to the bank every time?

they have no answer for it .

Isn't it strange?

We curse PSU banks for poor service. What do we call this service where bank takes more than a year to change address of home loan customer and still did not do it?
