I'd love a TBHP meet, would have to do it sooner. I'll be moving back to India by Sep 2nd week.

@prateek: I was tempted for the Aprilia, but then again I decided not to. RS125s in Singapore are capped to 30BHP, they do not have powervalves which makes their low end pretty sad. My NSR has more power, a powervalve and so the engine is much better. Handling, well the aprilia edges ahead. You will not notice any difference unless on the racetrack.

Couple of points to note

1. Check with the consultancy that you are signing the contract with, If they would help Sign your PR documents. This will help if you are planning to stay for a long time. Many COnsultancies don't. The reason is once you get your PR then you can switch jobs easily.

2. Negotiate for a high pay now. Unless you are in a specialized role, the average industry hike is about 8-10% max, if you are switching jobs. (I made this mistake)

3. Gear up for a totally new work culture. It's just the opposite of the S culture.

4. Housing is very expensive though, rental in HDB is almost the same as condos these days and get ready to shell out altleast 35% of your salary for rent.

5. Saving potential is not all that great, but will give you a good gateway to move to the US or use this move to travel SEA(Like me).

OT : With so many Bhpian's in SG, How about a meet here. This would be a first meet.

I dedicated this evening to googling info on Singapore, learn't quite a bit.

Where do I find these consultants, Google ?
Do you have to pay them ?

Would any of you know of some good consultants.
Should I post my Resume on Singapore job sites?

Generally how difficult is to sit here in India and find a Job in Singapore.
Uploading your CV on Singapore job sites.

Do the companies out their normally hire Indian nationals, residing in India - and then process their documentation.

Any leads on Job consultants ( Singapore ) would be highly appreciated.

Hey guys,

Sorry for bombarding this old thread. And thanks for the TS - good thread dude!!

I am looking out for a job in SG and would need some info about it from the experts here. I have almost 6 years of experience in IT (PL/SQL Developer). I am thinking of going to SG for 2 weeks looking out for a job. My questions here are:

1. Will 2 weeks be enough for me to land in a job? Yeah, I will do as much of ground work from here as possible before starting.
2. I have applied for EPEC (Employment Pass Eligibility Certificate). However, I have been hearing that it is not necessary for job-search. Will having a EPEC boost my chances of getting a job there?
3. My wifey is also into IT (Dot Net). Her office allows her to take few weeks off. We are still contemplating whether both of us will be going or its just me. In both cases, can anyone of you help me/us out in accommodation? :D
4. Any leads on consultants would be of great help!

Cheers!!

Bumping an old thread.

I have recently shifted to Singapore. It would be great to meet TBhpians. Please PM me with your contact info. I work at SunTec towers so can hop about easily.

Hello all!! Need a small information on Singapore visa. I will be going to Manila, Philippines and I have the option of going via Singapore or Hong Kong . Some flights have a layover of 8 hours at Singapore. Can I take the free tour offered by Changi & Singapore Airlines without any transit visa?

Hey BHPians,
My brother is shifting to Singapore in the first week of next month. Will be accompanying him and staying for a week there. Would not be doing much the whole week so how about a meet of TBPians?

Would be there in the first week of May

Hi Guys!

I am delighted to see this thread in Team BHP. I have been offered a job at Credit Suisse in Singapore. I am a software engineer with 7 years experience and making 12 lacs pa in Bangalore. I have been offered 6500 Singapore dollars. Is this salary good enough considering that I am already making 12 lacs in India?

I am married and would be taking my wife there after 6 months. I want to go there alone and test the waters. My office is going to be in Changi Business Park . Could you guys let me know if I can rent a common room nearby ideally with indian neighbours, for about 500$?

Whew! lots of questions!

Cheers,
Revhappy

Hello Guys,

Revisiting my old post created some 8 and 1/2 years ago. Not sure, if anyone still remembers me. I am still in Singapore and loving it. :)

Cheers!

Have been glancing through your Singapore threads. How time flies. Are you on wheels yet and where are you based.

Is there a Singapore ' team-bhp ' club
