hey heard coventry is good school but not enough orientation.

why dont you try for arts college of detriot, best of the lot out of 400 students only 10 go into vehicle design. so .........

u can try the pasadena too, also good one..

go to design news.com and search. as far as procedures why are you guys asking people when you have computers and internet and college websites and emails. the first thing you should know is correspond directly to the departments you applying till then u are way far away from your goals and scholar ships aswell.

Nope, I am an Mba and have had a business education all through.

Coventry is a decent school with well-priced programs. The faculty is great.

As Sahil mentioned, it is VERY VERY important to keep in touch with your admissions department via phone and email. Dont simply send your applications and wait to hear from them. Call up the international admissions and speak in a polite but assertive manner to the officer in charge of your application. It goes a long long way.

khanak , I meant they have night classes for students who want to prepare their portifolios. I dont think they r counted as credits. so this is extra time in studios apart from nerve brakin main courses

And abt taxi thing, US is not like before , once caught u r deported!!
even by a ordinary cop since databases are linked now. sidaaaa INS KO JATA HAI in 5 minutes .

IDC (IIT) BOMBAY . Talked to many students and passed out designer for hiring purposes(not that sharp as europeans or americans) , infact they have a forum in yahoo or something. ask them for more information or go to IDC you get tonns of information. But for sure US schools are very very very intense for design. go to www.designnews.com for more info

Hey Khanak,

It's me who is doin Industrial Design. @Rhode Island School Of Design.
Transportation design isnt really a huge part of the curriculum here.

If thats what you are looking for, there are a lot of schools on the west coast (namely california) that are very well known for their transportation design programs. Also, Detriot has some colleges, but if i had a choice i would pick Cali for each and every category.

Do you have a portfolio at all? Sketches/drawings/desgins you have done? Could we see it. And you will need a portfolio if you plan to apply to any design school.

A Lesson for design Students(ONLY AUTO EXTERIOR SURFACE DESIGNERS)

RESPECT FOR VEHICLE DESIGNER IN THE WORLD: IT IS A WHOLE LOT DIFFERENT (REPEAT : they are the ferraris of design students)

I do know there are colleges which offer industrial design, but if your aim is drawing , designing cars ; Art at detroit is the best. And if some one says NO it will be only because they dont know. As far industrial design is concerned it is of a very different level from car designs, a very very low level so dont get confused. Our DC is from pasadena I suppose (but not sure) it is the best (2) there is one more in cali . but the point here is you have no choice

Detriot is like IIT in vehicle design out of 400 , they select only 10 who go to vehicle design and these 10 spend 20 hrs in studios for rest of their lifes . hehe

Also the fee struxcture is like you can get a lamborgini for that fees. close to 200k $ with everything for 4 years. so even you want to be a designer from DTA you have to own a lambo;heheh

"DONOT GO TO INDUSTRIAL DESIGN IF YOU WANT TO DESIGN CARS"
I repeat DONOT GO TO INDUSTRIAL DESIGN IF YOU WANT TO DESIGN CARS

You will end up in hell; u will realize after 4 years into the program.
we have got lot of colleges in europe for cheap alternative, coventry is one it will work out to 6000GBP for a year of fees which is very very cheap. I know a student in royal college of art- vehicle design , they offer only MS in vehicle design I suppose-his name is neeraj pal(did a job in Gm in india and went to uk for masters - works for me part time on alias frontier) one more guy did his design in IDC and Masters in institue of design in sweden (now he is mahindra extrior designer(did have a role in scorpio)- putting him as consultant. Believe me even if you become a designer u wont be drawing the most flashy car on planet ; all u be doin is draw crumped **** to reduce weight , shape theme shapes ..........etc and dont expect to get jobs atleast interns if you are not the best. I have searched for the best designers in the world " the best for my up coming project, and if you think I am stupid to talk to you abt this, how abt this: Hired the Jaguar cheif designer for my project and paying 100 euros/hr. Leave the price , time schedule is limited you feel the pain right away.

Btw: I wanted to do the course in detriot but chickened out because I felt stupid after my MBA, PHD in marketing (USA).

And your work needs lot and tonns of refinement even if u r just 17 since I know guys who r real real good at this at 13 itself and started workin on alias
