Such a lovely setting! Can almost smell them, and imagine the nippy, fresh breeze on my face

Here is one shot of a cold, misty Jan morning at Kavdi, Pune. Minimal PP, just played with the saturation and contrast.

@gr8guzzler, good shots. I like it. A little more detail on the sky would have been perfect in both the pics. but overall, great shots.

Re: The Official non-auto Image thread

Practiced some low light photography last night. What do you think? What I liked about the dslr is its ability to capture a photo in such low light without a flash. I only wish I could've depicted the fountain in a better way.

nice one! loved the B&W theme. i like the start, the beats matching the speaker movement.

few suggestions:
  • bit of slow motion could added
  • composition - there is a shot where you're showing the girl's eyes, but the nose is cut off.
  • camera panning - at 3:30 when the camera pans right to left, it wasn't smooth.
  • too quick shifting of frames (switching between the guy and the girl) can be avoided.

very good effort

Re: The Official non-auto Image thread

Surakund Mela 2013 - a colorful traditional craft festival of India that showcases the finest handlooms, handicrafts, authentic fragrances & flavours of rich Indian cuisines. It is held in the backdrop of the lake, during the spring season, every year from February 1–15 in Surajkund, Faridabad, Haryana.

Yesterday I visited this beautiful place and clicked as much as possible. Here on this thread I am posting select pics as there are over 100+ pics and it is not feasible to post all pics here. Complete set of pictures are available on this link https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?...1&l=d19cfc8014 Requesting everyone to kindly go through the complete album!

Here are few select photos of the crafts mela.

What camera do you use ? did you use a tripod while taking these pics ? Did you use a low light lens by any chance?

The camera was Canon 600D with an 18-55 lens. Haven't bought a tripod as of now, but trying to practise having a steady hand. Will need the tripod though, in case of long exposure shots. Plus its awkward carrying a tripod around in a mall

Btw, whats a low light lens? I've the kit and the 50mm prime. Are any of those low light lenses?

I now realise though, I shouldn't have selected such high ISO. As it caused so much grain in these pics. Plus I was shooting against the wind, leading to more camera shake,

,
dont know much about cannon gear , usually low light lenses are prime lenses , with a larger aperture , say f/1.8 or f/1.4 .I think your 50mm prime lense is a low light lens. If you had used a tripod , may be you could have set lower ISO and got better pics.

Yeah you are right , its awkward to carry tripod in a mall.

Yes I was carrying the 50mm prime with me. But wasn't looking to shoot portraits. Hence kept it inside the bag plus dust and water mist prevented me from changing lenses.

The tripod is necessary, There wouldnt have been any shake then :(

The prime that I have is f/1.8 and I had shot these with the f/3.5 and 4.3.

Lol the awkwardness is there and people keep observing your every move. Somehow managed to get past my inhibitions and shoot these
