Thank You shashanka. I'm no expert in photography too. Just does random clicks, but trying by bit to learn the basics. Would like to know the bird names though. It's really difficult for me to identify them, except for the Parrot ofcourse.

Hello nkghai,
Those are lovely photographs of birds we are all familiar with. They stand out for me because they all seem to be aware of the photographer and yet are not disturbed in any way. I am a point and shoot amateur myself, and most of my recent photos on this thread are all taken from our terrace with a Lumix DMC fz-200 camera. Needless to add that the subjects are familiar creatures, including our pets!

Been revisiting old folders, since the mountains are calling.

Shot somewhere before Chaukori. Oct 2012, Nikon D90.

I believe I saw the same abandoned cottage in 2012. Seems nobody wanted to repair and move into that cottage.

I have missed Naukuchiatal during my numerous visits to Kumaon, mainly because it always seemed touristy. Will check it out when I am there next time.

Another monochrome shot. The high res image is a lot sharper than what it appears here.

We came across the cottage in our rambles there - and its still there like the Rock of Gibraltar! That is a splendid photograph - and I doff my hat to a master. One has only to see your photos (and those of some of the others on this thread) to acknowledge that. I confess that though I have been pointing & shooting for the past 40+ years, I never got up the motivation to study the subject more deeply. Unlike cars & diesel engines!

I'm attaching a few photographs I took from our terrace in Lucknow these past couple of weeks, using the only camera I have at present, the Lumix DMC 200-fz, a bridge camera with the Leitz X24, 4.5 - 108 aspherical zoom. I shall be grateful if you identified the birds (a species of hawk) there. Casual surfing over the net seemed to indicate them to be sparrow hawks, though the mottled feathering seems to indicate a broad range of conclusions.

No, no Nilanjan, you have been misled - Naukuchiatal is far from becoming a tourist haven. We have made it almost a home from home, over the past 19 years or so. And it is, for us, the perfect retreat - 'Far from the madding crowd' as my thread on Naukuchiatal says. Tranquil, calm and serene, it has provided us the perfect interlude to recharge the batteries. My only regret is that I never acquired the photographic skills to capture the magic of the place. Please do go there when you get the opportunity.

Takeoff. Shot during late afternoon.

If I add a border using LightRoom, I can't get appropriate sharpness if I use print to file option

Why can't you just record a macro for borders instead? I do that using my ancient CS4.

I think I had mentioned it before. Try Mogrify2. Have been using that for some time now. Works like a charm.
