my guess is ulsoor lake. That's usually used by Madras sappers to train/row. Might not be allowed for everyone.

Yep, it's the Ulsoor Lake. MEG and the Home Guards train there; not sure if civilians are allowed.

Ulsoor was my first guess too, and was hoping that it was some other place where civilians were allowed. Trishna Club there used to allow civilians to paddle there but I hear that it is no longer possible.

Going beyond 1:1 magnification ratio - super macro territory.

A worm of ~2 cms. Hand-held shots, 12 of them stacked.

Happy new year everyone! A few recent shots from UK

The originals are quite sharp, though they might appear a little fuzzy after resizing of the original jpegs :-) Better versions here https://www.instagram.com/nilanjanray/

All from recent trip to Kausani. Taken on Samsung Galaxy S7, admittedly, not the best quality.

Re: The Official non-auto Image thread

I went on a workshop Filters yesterday on the Dutch coast. Used a very nice Benro filterset. I have just ordered myself one as I would like to experiment some more.

All three are taken with a polariser, 2 stop soft graduated and a ND6 filter. Shutter speed around 10 seconds which makes for the special look of the water.

The sea was already very calm, you tend to get even nicer results with waves and foam on the water. Not necessarily my best images, but it takes quite a bit of experience and experimenting to get everything right when you start using these sort filters.

As it was quite a bright day I had to use the lowest ISO setting, high diaphragm, low shutter speeds, so all shots taken on a tripod with stability system switched off. I have been experimenting a bit with DOV using hyperlocal manual focus on my lens as well.

I have some ideas about my next photographic project for the RPS and it is very much about landscapes, so for the next couple of weeks I will be trying out some more techniques, possibly some additional kit, that would be useful.

Birds and cats

Mist. Winter. Dawn. I increasingly prefer moody shots. Unless the light or atmosphere is interesting, sometimes it is not worth processing. Though most folks prefer photos that are contrasty and saturated. Btw these photos are sharp too, but they don't appear so here, after downsizing a couple of times from a JPEG.

Unless it is a gorgeous tigress. Big cats exempted. Haven't managed to fall out of love yet :-)

Many travelogues pending. Need to take out time and start a few new threads.

Great image. I haven,t done much monichrome, but when I do it is usually similar things, misty landscapes are really nice in monochrome and or B&W. Sometimes they can become quite spooky and or moody, suits it.
