Re: The Official non-auto Image thread

An early start to view the sunrise at Mahabalipuram: Sunrise was clouded out but that didn't dissuade me from getting some pics of Mahabs (Nikon D610 + Tamron 15-30mm f/2.8VR) on the way back did some 'birding' at Muttukadu Bridge (Nikon D3200 + Tamron 150-600mm). It's always good to reach Mahabs at 6 am and see the sunrise on the beach wait for the monuments to open at 7 am so that your images don't get "crowded out". I'd say the Xi-Modi visit has given a 'fillip' to this small town. Here's a Mahabs pictorial from my side...

The thread has come alive! Lots of good captures.
@Durango Dude, great BIF's!

Here are my contributions from recent adventure at Delhi zoo. It was an extremely hazy/foggy day. Even after de-hazing (level correction in GIMP), I got very few keepers. Gear used- D5600+AF-P DX 70-300 VR.

Lovely pics from Delhi Zoo. Shoot RAW that way you'll get a lot more images. Thank you!

Thanks! I did shoot in Raw. That's why I could salvage a few shots. But it was so hazy that haze correction reduced a lot of sharpness and contrast. Also the colors were too dull. I guess I have to get better at post processing.

I used Adobe LR in all my above images. Your kit is good. Our zoo's aren't photographer friendly. They have multiple barriers and you don't get to see the animals without this.

Looks serene! Was this a serendipitous encounter too?
One can deduce the human figure from the round shaped hill on the left as the head of the figure.

I don't think so. This mountain is actually called "Thaadagai malai", in which "Thaadagai" refers to the name of the female giant and "malai" means mountain.

It is said that Ram (of Ramayana) killed the giant, after which she fell down, and thus the mountain was formed.

To me, it looks like the head of a Red Indian. Try looking at it sideways (right). The same round shaped hill you mention is now the chin.

My first attempt at birding. Both shot handheld in a rocking boat in the middle of the day.

Re: The Official non-auto Image thread

Today, 31st of December was a very cold, misty and wet day here in the Netherlands. Perfect for taking some unusual images. Stand by for some spooky and moody images of my stomping grounds. All taken within 1-2 kilometers from where we live along our dike.
