A snap has to be looked at in totality - the composition, surroundings, lighting etc. Then only it conveys the thought and emotion associated with it. Not for nothing it has been said - a picture is worth thousand words.

Of course, every individual has his/her's own brid's eye view about...

Total solar eclipse

I don't know if it is here. If so, then Mods are requested to move it to appropriate section.

India, on 22nd July shall witness the century's last total solar eclipse. Is anybody preparing for that? I for one am looking for a solar filter and have failed so far. My next bet is to get a No.14 Welder's glass and cut it in a circular shape of 67mm and fit it in one of the UV filters of this size, so that it fits my lenses.

Any other brilliant ideas?

You need to make pictures fast during the totality, as the eclipse begins from India and so the total duration of total eclipse will be very less. It will be 6 minutes 39 seconds somewhere over the pacific Ocean.

Do you live somewhere in the path of totality, for this eclipse? that is North & North-east India... If you're in Gurgaon, you're going to see a partial eclipse only.

We down south can only see a partial eclipse :(

The ideal place in India to witness the total eclipse will be Patna.
