Guys have you looked at the moon now? It is full moon and appearing really bigger as it is very close to earth as it can get on its orbit. It will become very bright in a short while.

Taken from my house's balcony.

Of course some PP has gone into these pictures, that's why the moon is looking very sharp. I took the zoomed picture of moon with my 210mm lens and blended it into the wide angle shot right in to the actual position of the moon. The blended moon is made slightly larger than its actual size in that image, just to make it a bit interesting. The second image is just a cropped version of the first one.

Here's the un-edited shot @210mm, 100% cropped ,for a reference.

Yea man I was watching the same. I got a very similar shot as yours. I might have posted this before too. Took this about 2yrs ago.

I had used Canon EF 100-400 USM IS L. Had it mounted on a tripod though it was very flimsy. Used a fast shutter speed to get the sharpness and has a crop.

Since we are discussing the moon. How about a picture of the first full moon of 2010? Handheld as I don't have my tripod with me. Stabilization and fast shutter speed helped though!

Thank you Klub_Class and jkdas for liking the photographs .

Clevermax,
Amazing shot. Very very nice.

Did anyone manage to get the moon when it was red? What we witnessed yesterday is called "Bharath Purnima". The moon is actually red to start with and then becomes yellow!

Thanks Rudra ji. I'm thrilled to see a comment from you!

Yes rightly said - An adult's happiness so diluted compared to the happiness of an innocent mind.

Thanks Hw. I think the moon was read when it was at the very horizon which many of us won't get to see because of the buildings and trees... I am not sure though. I took my shot at 7:47 PM which was sometime after moonrise.

Clevermax,

Darn me. I got to see it when it was red. I was at a friend's farm house, away from the city. But I was just carrying my 50mm and do not own a telephoto yet :(.
