Re: The Official non-auto Image thread

Here is another Sunset shot. Couldn't frame it properly, rather the way I wanted, but still liked the way the Sun is places below the tree without any leaves.

Re: The Official non-auto Image thread

TG and TSK, loved all the shots, inspired to try long exposures, will hunt for a place as time permits

Techno, thats a perfect image there !

Chethan, last shot is really nice, I would use a 200mm there and take only that tree and sun into frame, as I did at Ulsoor lake.

Pawan, image above is beautiful. Have you done any color correction on it ? I thought snow would look pure white.

Rhythm of life !

Re: The Official non-auto Image thread

@pawan
Excellent composition!

@techno
@Shaju
Thanks!

@kpzen
Tsk already gave u the answer.

These were shot on the D7000.
Exposure 30
Aperture f/2.8
Focal Length 14 mm
ISO Speed 250

The effect of light and dark with the stars is not done in post. Infact I havent pped them at all, except slightly adjusting the white balance to the warmer side, to kill an excessive blue cast.
I must thank TSK for his awesome input while shooting these shots.

f/ 2.8?

Why is this shot with lens wide open? I love the pics, but just puzzled by this figure.

Re: The Official non-auto Image thread

@crazy driver
I wanted the stars to show up just enough to not have trails. If the aperture is narrower, I will need to keep a longer exposure and they wont turn as bright as i wanted them to.

TG.

Yes Shaju, that was the idea, but the maximum I had was 105mm.

Tabla image is very nice.

Re: The Official non-auto Image thread

A few photos at Chennai Zoo. The purpose was to get familiarized with my new Sony A500 and try out a few shots in various modes and compare. I was back to photography almost after a gap of 5 years.

The sky was totally overcast and the light was changing quickly. Most of the enclosures had wire mesh painted in bright green. I had to use manual focus to focus on the animals. No flash and the lens was 28-80 F4.0/5.6 from my old Minolta maxxum. I used full manual mode in some of the photos.

Mind blowing shots TG/ Tsk. They sure do look wallpaper material. What a beautiful shot!

A couple of shots from my side...

I call it "Nostalgia".
A location that I have a lot of cherished memories associated with, a pond that has served as a perennial source of water for over 140 years.

Not finding enough time to step out with the cam and sadly that situation will continue until first week of Jan. But, I am keeping myself busy within my society. Learning must go on !

Mukul, at 2.8 with focus on infinity, how did you manage to get everything so sharp?

no color correct, the shot was taken in early morning, the sun was just rising and snow was not looking completely white.

Here is another winter collection
