Thanks. No such restriction here in Aus.
US work in mysterious ways. They have taken Capitalism, IP etc. to other extreme. May be security is one of the reasons.

Oh yea.. The Christmas - new year lighting in the city. It's funny that they decided to call Christmas trees as holiday trees in the US. I was laughing trying to translate that to Hindi and Malayalam

When did this happen, this year? I was kinda confused when my US based cousin wished "Happy Whatever.." to all her FB friends.

Re: The Official non-auto Image thread

Ever since I have landed in US I have been hearing happy holidays. Looks like a well thought out marketing plan (and a successful one at that) to include families from all faiths in christmas celebrations without any awkward glares or questions. Every store clerk is trained to say happy holidays now.

Happy whatever is a little extreme for that though

Re: The Official non-auto Image thread

Guys I would like you to rate this photo on a scale of 10. And with the rating I would also want you to tell me how to improve on it with lighting, blur, contrast etc etc.

There is no PP at all just cropped and sharpened.

Regards

I would prefer the entire dial to be in focus, may be f/16 or similar.

An old image (2 years unnoticed in the hard drive) edited this week !

composition is good; could have revealed bit more of the watch. the depth of field is nice and black and blue colours looks fabulous. can you share the specs of the shot?

Sydney fireworks

Sharing some pics that I could manage from the Sydney New Year fireworks. These are from the 9pm 'family' fireworks. Unfortunately my children wouldn't stay up till 12 and I had to take them back to the hotel and then watch the real event through a space between buildings :(

This was my first experience photographing fireworks and I guess my inexperience shows.

Nope, this is the Galaxy S that I had it when I was there. Will upgrade to a Nexus directly.

I think you don't have any of the things you had used to make that shot other than yourself . The D60 is gone, 70-300 VR is not around and the biggest one is the car :(.

I forgot this building but it's located in Rosslyn, Virginia. Basically behind the big building in my previous post. Both have been shot on the same day with Panasonic GF-1 and Olympus 45mm f1.8.

Very true, but wife and kids are same even now

Each time you post from GF-1, I wonder about its clarity and quality. Too good.
