Re: The Official non-auto Image thread

Thanks a ton govigov, jacs, glomus123 and all others! To get 5 good shots, I had to click around 86 times. The setup was a simple one: A blue color rectangular basin with water and a 'burette' (remember titrations during school chemistry practicals?) dropping water slowly and continuously into the basin. This setup was arranged in the open terrace of my lab. Shot them around evening time when I could get good soft natural light.
Patience is one virtue you should be having in plenty if you have an interest in any kind of Photography! I have shot another series of snaps of a brown finch (bird) pair's intimate moments . To get those snaps, I had to skip a day's breakfast and wait at the same spot for more than an hour without moving! Guess how much more difficult would be shooting animals in wild!
In my case, my profession also teaches me a lot of patience- Life science research

Thanks for the details. I do use the same Canon 1000D. You must have used a very high shutter speed, right? I want to take a similar snap but these days are not sunny at all

Re: The Official non-auto Image thread

jacs, I used a shutter speed of 1/2000 in Shutter speed priority mode- in 1000d that would be 'Tv'. Aperture was F/4, ISO 100. Tripod will help a great even though you are shooting at high shutter speeds. All shots were taken with in camera RAW format and processed with photoshop CS5. You could experiment with shutter speed depending upon the light available!
Glomus123, it is pretty sunny here in Bangalore now !!
All the snaps posted are outstanding! The sparrow by Ajay_satpute has incredible detail! The perch could have been better, but then you cant make the sparrow sit on were you want!

Re: The Official non-auto Image thread

Great detail and amazingly sharp. If only you had included the whole of the tail this snap would've been extraordinary.
