Great ISO performance. Good to know you have switched to aperture priority. How about picking a better subject?

Re: The Official non-auto Image thread

Thanks Sharath. Switched to A long long time back. At 5:40 am in the morning I could find these only clickable out of my 14th floor balcony with groggy eyes. I waited for the pigeons to come and drink water from the bowl, but probably they weren't awake then..

Re: The Official non-auto Image thread

Why not pick something from inside the house? With that kind of ISO performance, you can shoot almost anything without worry.

The following shot of my work desk was taken using my ancient Olympus E-500 (released in 2005), which has pretty bad ISO performance. I needed tripod for this shot, but you can do it handheld in D800. Try something like this inside your house or office.

Nothing wrong with the subject. The compo needs just a little fine tuning. This is a very involving subject. How our land is being pillage by these monstrosities. The image shows the change, the rise of concrete.
Keen eye GD, but the composition is not really "There", Maybe change the angle, take pic from lower down, make it off center etc.,
Such photography is very difficult, and you need a lot of practice to master it.

Thats a kick *** work desk you got there, added to my wish list when I need to show off to clients in the future

GD saab, head out early morning or late evening and get some above 6400 ISO shots. So far I never had any itch for the megapixel war, but few serious enquiries in the lifestyle/fashion area are at the doorstep. D800 is the only body I can get by swiping my card, unless someone gifts me a Hasselblad (H4D-40) !!

Re: The Official non-auto Image thread

Returning to this thread after a long time.

Past few months were really hectic left me no time to take the camera out. Hopefully should start re-using my camera soon

GD in my humble opinion the Scenery does not do justice to the camera, this is a pretty average picture for the Kind of Camera & the kind of experience/expertise you have.

I think you should try to get something like what Samurai has posted, additionally you could try scenarios like below which I did with a P&S on a tripod & which I think would come really great with your gear & expertise

Re: The Official non-auto Image thread

@Techno: oh so very flattering words. Thank you. Made my day. Do I subtle hint that I should head to the jungles asap? I wish I could but for the 3 month lay-off and now the SC judgement.

I shall try to find better and appealing subjects to justify the new toy.

Your camera has excellent ISO performance as evident from the pictures. Take maximum advantage of it and enjoy the extended range!!

Couple of night shots I made yesterday.

Camera: SLT-A35, 18-55mm @18mm. The exposures were little lower than I expected, so I had to bring up the levels in PS, which resulted in slight posterization in both pictures.

f/8, ISO100, 363 seconds, LENR On

this somewhat makes up for the subject that your hardware needs. I think you need to go far away from the madding crowd to do justice to the D800.
