@Samurai
@rajataurus
Well that is the lens hood actually, its fit backwards when not in use.

@souljah
Hahaha, well it was totally a coincidence!

@Anirban
Well you know what that lens is by now.

@ExtremeTorque
Superb shots. Mindblowing.

@Navin
Those are some really close macros!
Well, this was a very exciting moment! I was just going for my routine evening walk and somewhere in my mind I just hoped if I could just catch a glimpse of the sly fox that dwells on these hills. I have always kept an eye open for these guys but could never find them. But today was different. I was focusing on a wood dove that was perched on a fence and then i saw something moving among the unfocused part while looking through the view finder, and wow! It was there, a fox! The light was really poor as he was on the shadow side of the hill and was pretty far too and before I could get a proper exposure, the fox just ran away into the grasslands. I was fortunate to get at least this click of him which I am sharing with you guys!

Experimenting with IR

The results are not what I want, but different, nonetheless!
I am unable to get "false color"

Did you use an IR filter here?

@ TSEA: Thanks buddy.

@ TG: That's a wonderful catch. Foxes are very shy specially during daytime.

Regards,

Anirban.

Yup, I did. But no matter which PP route I go to, I never seem to get false color, once I adjust white balance, the entire pic is like B&W

Rudra, its a Massa filter. It cuts of at 850nm. As compared to Hoya R72(which cuts of at 720nm), this filter is true IR.
Unfortunately my 18-55 lens has a known IR hotspot problem, so I use this with my 50mm lens, so landscapes turn out narrow.

@TSK
I have the exact same question that rudra asked. As far as i understand, different filters give different false color.

@Rocky
Haha, will try!

TG.

From what I could gather on the web, if you have a filter which cuts of most of visible right except for far red and infrared, you can get false color, however if you have a filter which cuts of near 850nm, like the one I have, all you get is true IR, which means you cannot get false color by desaturating the green channel.
