Yeah, I am familiar with it, had seen in PAAI long back, but I don't like that effect. I want soft dreamy look, but not ethereal.

The horizon is tilted, I know it is intentional, but composing with tilted horizon rarely comes out well.

Shot this today morning since western ghats was visible after a long time.

Guess it depends on how much gaussian blur you dial in. I love the looks it gives, but anyway personal preference. Another easy way to try is to use a fogged UV filter to get that look directly in the camera. Just smear some vaseline on a UV filter and you are ready for it. I guess you may even know about this method also.
Probably Rudra will be able to provide you some better way to achieve it.

The 2nd last where Mr. Stripes is wading in the water, either to take a dip or to catch a fish, is what I liked. The last where Mr. White Stripes is having a swim in his backyard is amazing. Both seems to have been taken in a zoo.

Dear hellstar,
Nice lightning shots, tried some myself at slower shutter speeds which did not come out well.
Can you share the Shutter speed/ apperture settings and the time of the day, at which you shot these two pics, and any special techniques for lightning shots?

We got a break from the summer heat, as it is raining almost continuously over this weekend. It was darker during midday than it was at 6:30 PM. One shot taken yesterday, when rain was having its evening coffee break.

@harmon_bro:

Thanks buddy. I use a Sony Alpha 200. This image was taken with a Minolta 70-210 F4 lens mounted on the Alpha.

Exif: 1/250seconds, F/4.0, 210mm, ISO 400

Processed from RAW image.

BTW, this lens is pretty old.. made in the late 80s!! I love this lens for its super bokeh, and great colors. Only downside being the weight.
