I just tried sharpening your picture in Irfanview and it seemed a lot better. Just two mouse clicks!

I was actually looking to enhance (sharpen) my first pic (yellow flower).. But thanks for pointing the software, will surely give it a shot...

@rj Since I don't have access to the original pics right now (am in office), I will have to give figure from my memory. I was surely very close, in fact may be less than 10 meters (since I was not able to get the complete bloomage of the peacock). I was using my Tamron 70-300 lens (non IS). Problem was that I was on a long moving vehicle (like a toy train on road) and was not allowed to get down, plus it was cloudy (and all this added to the blureness in the pic).

The only advantage was that I shot this pic in RAW. That brings me to another question. While I was editing the peacock pic using Cannon's digital photo professional (I am not sure abt the software's name) , I increased the sharpness a lot. The resulting picture was crisp but without any noise. Then I exported the picture into 8 bit TIFF (350dpi) and still in the cannon's software window, the pic looked crisp and without noise. However when I opened the picture using other softwares (picasa, paint etc), there was so much noise and I ended up softening the picture to remove noise. Can anyone point me what was I doing wrong?

Even I face the same problem, it's coming with a red tint. I used just a single raw file and Dynamic HDR instead, what could be wrong? Sorry for the OT, could use some help here.
