Thanks a lot TG and Riju.
@TG, that's a bad news for us, get that damn camera soon man. But good news is that we will see many more photos after that. And man, which bank is getting broken in this time? ;-)

Ok, let me break this post into two posts. Kinda like sticking to one particular theme. The first set that I would like to present is called "Moments". The firt one is titled "Memories" and second one would be "Never alone". Both were a little over processed IMO, but I liked the end result, so I chose to stick to the processing. Let me know your thoughts.

Note: Please avoid viewing this post if you hate reptiles (Well, this one ain't a reptile though). Especially the ones you encounter on the walls almost everyday.

Alright, the second set was actually more of a test/practice shots of a very very co-operative subject (a lizard offspring, about 1 inch long). Both of these photographs are handheld and bare flash has been used. The test was actually for the test of 1:1 and how difficult it would be for me to manage the magnification.

The first picture is called "Evil smile". Or that's what I could see in it's face. I like the second picture because of the dynamic colors near the eye. Again, comments and ways to improve are welcome. Thanks in advance.

Thanks. It was from an ancient Sony Ericsson K790a.

Last winter we got to see temperatures as low as -38 deg C (-45 C with windchill) here in town. Let's see how it goes this winter.

BTW, I did not understand 1:1! Would you please explain it to me? Is it some sought of macro lens???

Talking about shallow dof, last sunday I have coupled Helios 45 f2 in reverse hand held with Canon A610. The effect was kind of dreamy with a very shallow dof:

NOTE: In the last pic, the actual size of the flowers is around 5 mm. So you can imagine what could be the size of the dew drops!!!

It is basically museum piece although everything still works.
If I am not wrong, the film used is a 120mm film (medium format??!!). Its just a guess based on the size of the spool. You can get the 120mm film from abroad.

Hellwrath: liked the shoe one. Didnt know lizards were so colorful. Nice

kkr; I know how small the flowers are ! but isn't it a tad unfocused?

You are right, because of the shallow dof, even a minor shake in the hands results in the unfocused subject!!! For the first two pics, I was holding the camera with my wrists supported by the rock bench and my elbows on my knees, and hence less shake in them. Next time I shall try using a tripod and if possible I shall make a tube to mate the lens with the camera.

Yeah, then there is the problem of getting it developed. The quality of final photograph will be worse than mobile phone camera. Not worth the effort.

kkr2k2,
Yep, a very shallow DOF because the magnification was set at 1:1. Very difficult to shoot as well at such magnification as you have experienced in your shots. It is more of a property of a lens than the lens itself. For more info on the magnification info or macro photography in general, you can take a look at this link,

Macro photography - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

It basically means that the image on the sensor is the same size as the object being photographed.

jkdas,
Thank you for liking the pictures.
