Shaju, those are nice portrait photographs. Which flashguns are you using? Triggering them wireless?

One Nikon SB600, Two Yongnuo YN467, Yongnuo RF-602 trigger and 3 receivers. Most of my gadgets are displayed on DSLR thread with photos same day its bought . Model light is missing in this set up, that can be compensated with a dim room light to help the focusing part (I used a 5 watts CFL side wall light). And that's the only electric light in the entire room while shooting. Best part of speed lights: its small, AA size battery powered and handy. I will test it outdoors as soon as the monsoon settles down.

Very very nice pic! A dumb question from me though, how do we generate the HDR from a single raw? Using the HDR convertion in PS or is it something else?

  • Create Multiple exposures in TIFF/JPG from a single RAW file(-1,0,+1 Depending on range you want).
  • Blend all the exposures (I use Photomatix).

It will get you great results but with more noise than a Real HDR.

Thanks anekho. More than the lock one, liked this one - kinda abstract.

Thanks man. Answers below -

- OR -
Open the single raw in PM pro and it will generate a .hdr file, process it through tone-mapping to your liking. Save as .tiff and tweak in PS(if need be).

- OR -
Use HDR mapping in PS. Process it via tone mapping and then do the other adjustments(if need be).

I feel tone mapping gives better results than details enhancer, both in PS and PMpro.

Thanks Shaju!
The first thing I tested was the high ISO performance of this sensor. This one is at ISO 12800 straight out of cam. Simple P&S test.

Hey that's very impressive, did you mean 1800 ? Judging from the reflection on the glass areas, I assume its day light not really "low light" situation ! Only exif data can clear the doubt. In my test at ISO-6400 I got only 1/30 in low light at f/4.
