Re: The Official non-auto Image thread

A very cooperative Spot Billed Pelican at Anamalaichery over the weekend. It was my first visit to the place and a very satisfying one with some good Greater Flamingo sightings.

I am a fan of your pics, man! I like the composition and sharpness in your pics. Which lens and body did you use? I hope I would be able to be as good as you !

Re: The Official non-auto Image thread

Some night shots clicked using the Handheld twilight mode. The noise in night shots is a standard feature on a P&S camera I guess.

This one shot @ 30x optical:

Excellent Clevermax. Which is the place? Looks eerily familiar.

Thanks! This is shot from the top of a rock named "Madavoorpara" near Trivandrum. You can see Arabian sea from atop on a clear sky day. (visible in the picture above)

This is the place.

Thanks, I'm humbled

I was using a Canon 1D Mark IV with a Canon 600mm F4 IS + 1.4x TC for this trip.

Here's the one and only "better" shot of the juvenile greater flamingo which was the highlight of the trip.

Re: The Official non-auto Image thread

@Clevermax
Oh ok. There is a similar hillock called rakshasapara at my native, Tiruvilwamala in trichur. One of the views from top is quite similar, though no sea is visible.

Nice picture!!
I understand this now, adjusting levels in shadow and highlights separately. you have any comparison if the same picture taken at 5 stops and merged would yield a 2EV better range ?

Re: The Official non-auto Image thread

Just a casual shot of a cormorant sunning its wings on the top of a tree, shot with a Sony H3.

The Official non-auto Image thread-wings.jpg

But then I found this poem to go with the picture...
Quote:
I dreamed, and dreamed;
Of wings I dreamed; of wings.
I dreamed of wings;
Soft-feathered things, --- wings.
I dreamed of wings, up-lifting things,
To pull me up to where my soul
Could wander free;
Above the winds, on wings;
Wings to set me free,
To lift me into unremembering,
To waft me from the days of things
Into the world of wings.
I dreamed of what I must possess -
And cannot have.
I dreamed of wings.
