Re: The Official non-auto Image thread

Couple of landscapes from the beautiful Kanakpura road. And the beauty adds up thanks to rains.

The monitor lizard reminded me of a shot which I took some time back at Bhadra. Here it goes.
BTW awesome shots of the birds esp. the flycatcher.

^^ I agree with Nilanjan here. It is purely a matter of individual choice and passions. I would happily observe/photograph and follow the same tiger/bird for hours together every day for a month. The mood, lighting and the activities of an animal changes with every moment and is a joy to behold, at least to me.

I might be repeating this praise, but I have to say this one is the finest shot in the last few pages.

Lot of us shoot nice pics of pretty things or pretty people or rare animals. The oomph factor is usually provided by the object. But it is a rare thing to pull that out of ordinate inanimate objects using composition and lighting. That has happened here. I have been able to achieve it very few times over all these years.

A similar picture of a table lamp in a log-hut that I shot last month.

I know the lighting is no way as subtle as previous lamp picture but, maybe with some tweaks the lighting of this picture can be made less harsher.

Re: The Official non-auto Image thread

Naah, the exposure is washed out. You can't tweak your way out of it. Besides, the composition is not that great.

60 mins before sunset. Late afternoon sun on my steering wheel
The Official non-auto Image thread-steering_sunset.jpeg

45 mins before sunset. Electric towers in a field
The Official non-auto Image thread-towers.jpeg

10 minutes before sunset. The sun through a tree
The Official non-auto Image thread-sunset-sky-through-trees.jpeg

1 min before the sun went down. Shot through a concrete pillar with two iron rods sticking out from it. I saw the sun about to go below the horizon, saw this 5 feet tall concrete post on a field, and immediately went off the road to align the sun and the pillar. Shot without getting down from the vehicle.

All photos shot using the 70-300.

Taken long back when I was at Orion. Cropped and edited on phone itself. Wondering what could be done to improve on this?
