Hometown blues, eh. One can never get away from that pile of work sitting there waiting for you to get done. By hometown you mean in Odhisha right? Then looking forward to those pics.

Sun does play a major role in photography. But i was surprised at the throw of the stock flash that day. Will post one pic later once im at my desktop. Really surprised. Btw i shot all the images in RAW this time as I want to play around with them once I get time to Post process. Been busy of late.

Thanks for appreciating the photos but I believe there's lot to improve upon for my photos to catch the attention of everyone. Else Im just another average joe lost in the crowd.

You have a benchmark ready for you though. The P&S photos- thats what you should try to achieve at first with your dSLR (in manual mode off course ) and then go beyond that.

Thanks for your comments folks. The Pentax 100mm macro is such a lovely glass and the reach is perfect to captue these candid moments.

Lovely colours Nilanjan!

Out little one is over 9 months old now..it has been a wonderful journey so far. Heres couple of portraits using Pentax 100mm macro on K-5.
Ah, thanks buddy . I have a long way to go, first would be to get a shot worthy of the HCSP pool. Your daughter is very very cute. I'd coax her to come closer to a window and then shoot with a bit of diffused light. She has those lovely expressive eyes, they'll come out very nicely.

Thanks R2D2. That door was shot at Mayo Hall with a very old lens. And I love huskies too. They look so scary and intimidating and yet pretty playful at times. BTW, when do we get to see photos made with the 75mm :P.

Here are a few from this long weekend. Was at Atlantic City with a few friends and the light on second day was just gorgeous.

And one portrait, there's something I love about this photo and I don't know what!

I haven't cropped any of the photos, but the ones shot in portrait mode seem long. It must be because I am trying the 3:2 after shooting exclusively with 4:3 for a while. What do you APS-C guys think? Does it seem long?

EDIT: Better versions of all of those here:

I finally got a chance to play with the EM-5 and 75mm F/1.8. Here are 3 test shots shot at F/1.8:

a) Bokeh - shows the bokeh to begin with. The bokeh is gorgeous - smooth, creamy and swirly! The focus is on the leaf in the middle of the frame

b) The real background..an ugly apartment building. Notice how it just vanished in the 1st photo. You can also see those leaves as a brown blur in the foreground.

c) Another test shot of a Natraja taken against bright reflected afternoon light in the background..foreground lighting compensated for in PP. Once again the background (another bldg) just morphs into a soft blur.

I love this little kit and the 75mm lens. My wife has already 'adopted' it fully ("It's mine!" she proclaimed) and once she gets familiar with it, I'm probably going to be banished from Oly land and back to my brick like Nikons.

Plan to do some tests with the 45mm 1.8 soon.

Re: The Official non-auto Image thread

Purchased a Fujifilm S2980 last week. A few sample shots from my side. Photos have been cropped/downscaled for uploading.

Don't know if the photos deserve to be here. Please be gentle on me, I'm a casual photographer, not even an amateur.

Made good use of the 18x zoom on the camera. I was at quite some distance from these beautiful creatures.
