Why dont we send all our politicians on an all paid trip to france ? Hopefully there will only be a small accident but enought to wipe out the dirtbags.

Ah! My favourite Physicist. He is my idol when it comes to living life and analysing the world, since my teens.

His book "You must be joking Mr.Feynman" is almost a compulsory read for my staff. If Sam Kapasi reads this book, he would realise that Mr.Feynman is the original Yeti.

Don't we anyways pay for all their foreign trips?

Is Doomsday here ?!?!

As a few of you maybe aware the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) will be up and running today. This is a huge 27 mile tunnel of technology which will collide streams of particles (bundles of protons) in an effort to determine what happens with these high energy collisions. New particles maybe discovered, the standard model of physics maybe changed, stranglet particles may get into a a runaway fusion process or we may end up with black holes which could decay in seconds or end up consuming the earth instantly or over a period of 50 months!!
The scientists at CERN are extremely interested into what happens by colliding particles at 14TeV. I do hope we make some good discoveries for science and humanity (akin to dicovering fire when we collided stones ), but it seems what the LHC has gained more publicity for is the danger it supposedly poses.
You make the decision its good or bad for us and whether tomorrow or maybe some other day when they run it at full capacity will be a blackhole sucking doomsday for us

Heres an old youtube video which says why it is dangerous (initially the LHC was targetted to be turned on in May but put on hold due to safety concerns raised by many scientists against this project)

and heres an article which says why it wont be doomsday on sep 12th
New Scientist Short Sharp Science Blog: Why the world WON'T end on September 10

Hope we are all posting on team-bhp and enjoying new discoveries by science a long long time after they turn on the LHC

cheers,
jassi

Aaj Tak is predicting doomsday. But they haven't announced closing down of channel and give advertisements of future programs too. Hypocrisy I must say.
Is there a way to create small black holes which can consume India TV, Aaj Tak, and News 24 offices?
Scientists will be doing great service to mankind if they can do this

may be it will not consume the earth immediately.

But, What would you do if it so happens that it creates a black hole which eats the earth slowly.

what would you do if you were told earth will be gone in one year. travel, meet friends and family, glutton yourself to death before it happens, take up adventures without fear, move to a nudist camp, learn to fly and crash into a mountain to see how it feels, steal a truck and mow over all indicabs....what else?

Or just spend the year thinking what you're gonna do first. LOL

I think that will be more interesting than being blasted into tiny particles of matter.
