Well its not going to end that easily - this from the group of scientists who filed a law suit to stop the LHC turning on.

If you listen carefully to the recordings below on youtube, they clearly indicate that its a mini blackhole which might get formed, which will circle around the earth like a satellite and take anywhere between 4 to millions of years to be big enough to swallow the earth.
The point is if the mini black holes don't decay as per hawking's supposed radiation theory (not proven), they might escape the earth's weak force (gravity) and then slowly over time absorb atoms while going around the earth grow in size sucking in matter.
We won't detect till its too late. So even if today they say nothing happened and clap success, we don't really know what bad we have done for an unknown amount of time. Mine is just a simple explaination, listen to the scientists directly on the links below

Actually the panic is happening about wrong date.
Today is just the starting. Already all over the world PAs are being used with higher energies than this one.
The Actual collisions which "are supposed to create doomsday" will be done in October.
